Sabrina Carpenter &#8211; &#8220;Espresso&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s five weeks. The top three are all non-movers, with Billie Eilish&#8217;s &#8220;Lunch&#8221; at 2, and Shaboozey&#8217;s &#8220;A Bar Song (Tipsy)&#8221; at 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Central Cee featuring Lil Baby &#8211; &#8220;Band4Band&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pDddlvCfTiw?si=ANE-ZysDPeRyZha3\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The highest new entry by quite some margin, though it feels like autopilot stuff to me. Number 4 is way above average for Central Cee, though. It&#8217;s his highest position since Sprinter reached number 1 last year, and that gave equal billing to Dave; as sole lead artist, it&#8217;s his biggest hit since &#8220;Doja&#8221; reached number 2 in 2022. By most people&#8217;s standards that wouldn&#8217;t be so long ago, but Central Cee is quite prolific &#8211; this is his fourth top 40 hit of the year (none of the others got above 18).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Lil Baby hasn&#8217;t had a UK hit single since 2022, and it&#8217;s only his second appearance in the top 10 &#8211; the first was on Drake&#8217;s &#8220;Girls Want Girls&#8221;, which reached number 2 in 2021. His highest position as a lead artist is number 26.<\/p>\n<p>All this week&#8217;s other new entries are outside the top 30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>31. Zach Bryan &#8211; &#8220;Pink Skies&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fs49xFmmHCo?si=gH8Redzk8R2_BzCu\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Zach Bryan gets a second UK hit to follow &#8220;I Remember Everything&#8221; (with Kacey Musgraves), which reached number 14 and hung around for ages.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the lead single from him upcoming album &#8220;The Great American Bar Scene&#8221;. The presence of outright country singles in the top 40 is becoming routine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>35. Teddy Swims &#8211; &#8220;The Door&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VSXT4a2kRHA?si=Id9gmrSZwexgwngz\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The follow-up to &#8220;Lose Control&#8221;, which is still hanging around at number 19. With 18 weeks in the top 10, and two weeks at number 2, it was unlucky to miss being a number 1. &#8220;The Door&#8221; has struggled to make headway by comparison; it&#8217;s been climbing from the lower reaches over the previous five weeks and only now makes the top 40. It&#8217;s perfectly fine, but seems to have been overshadowed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>38. The Script &#8211; &#8220;The Man Who Can&#8217;t Be Moved&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wfv1zZC_OwE?si=6ZgfodGU9HI8RXZ6\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This was a big hit in 2008-9, when it peaked at number 2 and spent more than half a year in the top 40. Apparently it&#8217;s here because it was used in a viral video about football or something. The band have a new album due out later in the year, their first since the death last year of guitarist Mark Sheehan.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Birds of a Feather&#8221; by Billie Eilish<\/strong> climbs 9-5, which is unusual for an album track. (The other album track, &#8220;Chihiro&#8221;, drops 7-11.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Stargazing&#8221; by Myles Smith<\/strong> climbs 14-9 to enter the top 10.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;As It Was&#8221; by Harry Styles<\/strong> climbs 33-30.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Valerie&#8221; by Mark Ronson featuring Amy Winehouse<\/strong> reaches a new peak for its current run, with a thrilling chart record of 38-39-39-38-36.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yes, it&#8217;s that boring. The four records leaving the top 40:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Texas Hold &#8216;Em&#8221; by Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong> finally leaves us after five weeks at number 1 and 15 weeks in the top 40.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Euphoria&#8221; by Kendrick Lamar<\/strong> peaked at 11 and had three weeks in the top 40.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Unwritten&#8221; by Natasha Bedingfield<\/strong> ends an improbable 20-week revival run where it peaked at 12.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;The Code&#8221; by Nemo<\/strong> had two weeks in the top 40, peaking at number 18 &#8211; perfectly respectable for a Eurovision record.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The longest running single in the top 40 is still <strong>&#8220;Stick Season&#8221; by Noah Kahan<\/strong> at 34 weeks and counting; it&#8217;s at number 21 this week.<\/p>\n<p>The album chart is busier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Taylor Swift &#8211; &#8220;The Tortured Poets Department&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Returning to number one for a third run, and its fourth week in total.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Twenty One Pilots &#8211; &#8220;Clancy&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Matching the peak of their 2018 album &#8220;Trench&#8221;; the follow-up got to number 3. The single &#8220;Overcompensate&#8221; made the top 40 in March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Paul Weller &#8211; &#8220;66&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FZwsXf-4va4?si=idgtn_0vBcB1Q29m\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His seventeenth solo album. His last two studio albums reached number 1, so this is on the low side for him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Bring Me The Horizon &#8211; &#8220;Post Human &#8211; Nex Gen&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This album includes singles going back as far as 2021, two of which made the top 40 last year (&#8220;Lost&#8221; and &#8220;Kool-Aid&#8221;). Their previous two albums made number 1, and this is actually their lowest position since 2010. Still top 5, though.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. Meekz &#8211; &#8220;Tru&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V5BI08TBFTE?si=ONG35QS5pxinZnUE\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Exactly the same position as its predecessor &#8220;Respect the Come Up&#8221; from last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>33. Chappell Roan &#8211; &#8220;The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VS6ixn2berk?si=_oQjJAdzP4TMlqON\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A rare case of an album climbing into the top 40 long after release &#8211; this album came out in 2023 to widespread acclaim and a chart position somewhere outside the top 100. It&#8217;s obviously getting interest as a spillover from the single &#8220;Good Luck Babe&#8221;, which isn&#8217;t on the album.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. RM &#8211; &#8220;Right Place Wrong Person&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bZPQImItCEg?si=ppEzC2VYnZ1YTF_5\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another BTS solo project. RM stands for Rap Monster (or at least used to), and he&#8217;s officially the group&#8217;s leader, so you might expect some sort of pop-rap affair. In fact, it&#8217;s a weird, uncommercial record which is well worth a listen. There <em>are<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ChAXAFqzBpw\">more radio-friendly tracks on the album<\/a> than the one above, but &#8220;Domodachi&#8221; is more representative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>38. Wallows &#8211; &#8220;Model&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/npbjxJdeztU?si=dt21anK6aGW9nqhK\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Indie band from LA.
