Sabrina Carpenter &#8211; &#8220;Taste&#8221;<\/strong> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three weeks. She still has <strong>&#8220;Espresso&#8221;<\/strong> at number 2, and <strong>&#8220;Please Please Please&#8221;<\/strong> at number 5. Her album &#8220;Short N&#8217; Sweet&#8221; is still at number 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Linkin Park &#8211; &#8220;The Emptiness Machine&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SRXH9AbT280?si=51oPFpNuZ_6YH3_8\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is the lead single from Linkin Park&#8217;s eighth album, after a seven year gap. They&#8217;ve added Emily Armstrong as joint lead singer, and the band&#8217;s return to activity is clearly a big draw. Just as Oasis were able to get three tracks into the top 10 on the back of 90s nostalgia, Linkin Park get their highest chart position ever &#8211; they haven&#8217;t had a top 10 hit since 2008, and their previous peak was number 6 for &#8220;What I&#8217;ve Done.&#8221; Their earliest hit singles were back in early 2001, so in many ways they&#8217;re as much a legacy act as Oasis, but at least they&#8217;re here with new material. Their singles collection &#8220;Papercuts&#8221; is at number 8 on the album chart.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>36. Alex Warren &#8211; &#8220;Carry You Home&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/d4iGZ_jP-1U?si=bVJiy4fHbBQ733Gs\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This came out in June, and it&#8217;s been hanging around the lower reaches ever since &#8211; it spent the last two weeks at 42 and 41, which basically means it would have charted but for the Oasis resurgence. It&#8217;s his first hit single. He has a social media background, but this is a perfectly good folk-pop single that could easily go further now that it&#8217;s getting some traction. (There&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RQorrnJIc2Q\">an alternate version of the video with what&#8217;s apparently footage from his actual wedding<\/a> which is rather more obviously targeted at the social media crowd.)<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s had some minor hits on mainland Europe earlier in the year, and made the top ten in Belgium and Norway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>38. Central Cee featuring Raye &#8211; &#8220;Moi&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Fc09UUvysbE?si=ptXQa4WiZoJGdLws\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That is&#8230; two unrelated records stapled together.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Die With a Smile&#8221; by Lady Gaga &amp; Bruno Mars<\/strong> climbs to 7 after three weeks at 6.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Somedays&#8221; by Sonny Fodera, Jazzy &amp; DOD<\/strong> climbs 15-10.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Sailor Song&#8221; by Gigi Perez<\/strong> climbs 24-13. I&#8217;m surprised it&#8217;s a hit, but hey, any new blood at the top of the chart is welcome.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;The Door&#8221; by Teddy Swims<\/strong> climbs 23-16 to enter the top 20 for the first time in its 16th week on chart &#8211; it&#8217;s spent the last six weeks hovering between 23 and 24.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;I Love You I&#8217;m Sorry&#8221; by Gracie Abrams<\/strong> climbs 25-21.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;We Pray&#8221; by Coldplay<\/strong> climbs 31-26.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Wildflower&#8221; by Billie Eilish<\/strong> climbs 35-30 (still way below &#8220;Guess&#8221; at 9 and &#8220;Birds of a Feather&#8221; at 14).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The three records leaving the top 40 are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Nights Like This&#8221; by the Kid Laroi<\/strong>, which peaked at 28 but lasted 9 weeks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Kehlani&#8221; by Jordan Adetunji<\/strong>, which peaked at number 8 and lasted 11 weeks (three of them in the top 10).<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Happier&#8221; by the Blessed Madonna featuring Clementine Douglas<\/strong>, which peaked at 17 and lasted 24 weeks on chart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The longest running track in the top 40 is still <strong>&#8220;Stick Season&#8221; by Noah Kahan<\/strong> at 49 weeks and counting&#8230; but it&#8217;s now at number 39.<\/p>\n<p>On the album chart:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. David Gilmour &#8211; &#8220;Luck and Strange&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/It5QFxLjc2k?si=A4L_U_LPH8oyQitD\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His third solo number one &#8211; the others were &#8220;On an Island&#8221; (2006) and &#8220;Rattle That Lock&#8221; (2015).<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Fred Again &#8211; &#8220;Ten Days&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The singles &#8220;I Adore U&#8221;, &#8220;Ten&#8221; and &#8220;Places to Be&#8221; all charted. His previous studio solo album reached number 4 in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. Rex Orange County &#8211; &#8220;The Alexander Technique&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aSde-gGK9NY?si=AYtI5RRpiFFsXr2p\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His fifth studio album. His previous album, 2022&#8217;s &#8220;Who Cares&#8221;, was a number 1, so this isn&#8217;t good. (The Alexander Technique is an alternative medicine thing to do with posture, if you&#8217;re wondering.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. Fat Dog &#8211; &#8220;WOOF.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p4SlLy94ZKg?si=BQqC8yNkyg5OsEVx\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Debut album. They&#8217;re from London.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19. The The &#8211; &#8220;Ensoulment&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Gmwkzk2bPms?si=_4S8IudnmsmJU7w3\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is their first new studio album since 2000. Their chart peak was in 1993, when &#8220;Dusk&#8221; reached number 3 on the album chart, and the EP &#8220;Dis-Infected&#8221; made the singles top 20.<\/p>\n<p><strong>35. Ultravox &#8211; &#8220;Lament&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PSQWUZ8a2Ho?si=kDoM73x6v8DeycUH\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>40th anniversary reissue; the album reached number 8 in 1984.
