Sienna Spiro &#8211; &#8220;Great Expectation&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B452TVVco2Q\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This has taken ten weeks to climb to number 1, which is positively sprightly by 2026 standards. Of course, there&#8217;s an asterisk here &#8211; if &#8220;Rein Me In&#8221; wasn&#8217;t subject to downweighting, it would be thrashing this track with a margin of more than a third. But you can make a fair case that the aim of that rule isn&#8217;t just to speed up the charts, it&#8217;s to attach less weight to tracks that are just hanging around on playlists.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s her first number 1, but she currently has two other tracks on the top 40: &#8220;Die On This Hill&#8221; is still at number 11, having peaked at number 9 last November, a number that doesn&#8217;t really reflect how successful it&#8217;s been. And &#8220;Pure&#8221; is a non-mover at number 36 in its third week on the top 40. The parent album &#8220;Visitor&#8221; has been out since July.<\/p>\n<p>The video for this track is bizarrely minimal. I can&#8217;t really work out what they were going for with it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>27. Miguel &#8211; &#8220;Sure Thing&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q4GJVOMjCC4\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s not much else going on in terms of new entries this week. This is a track released in 2010 that did nothing in the UK at the time, but did reach number 4 as a viral discovery in 2023. Technically, it&#8217;s not his only UK hit &#8211; he also has a featured artist credit on a Mariah Carey track &#8211; but he&#8217;s had very little impact in this country. Apparently three years is long enough for viral tracks to have a viral resurgence now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>31. Miley Cyrus &#8211; &#8220;Bass Persuades&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aWpw-Ynl0Yc\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In which 33-year-old Miley Cyrus whines about kids today. It&#8217;s supposedly meant to be about people being distracted by their screens and not surrendering to the moment, but I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s very good. Anyway, it&#8217;s the lead single from her next album.<\/p>\n<p>The only other entry this week is a re-entry at 37 for &#8220;Jamaican (Bam Bam)&#8221; by Hugel &amp; Solto.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Training Season&#8221; by Dua Lipa<\/strong> climbs 18-7. That&#8217;s still three places short of its position on first release in 2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Loser&#8221; by Tame Impala<\/strong> climbs 12-10 to become his second top 10 hit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Ain&#8217;t in LA&#8221; by Adela<\/strong> climbs 26-12 in the week of her debut album release, and looks to be a proper breakthrough hit. That album, <strong>&#8220;Prima&#8221;<\/strong>, enters at number 2, so it looks like her tour of the festival circuit has done dividends. The release week single <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3sB4Iv_tM7U\">&#8220;Nicole Kidman&#8221;<\/a> is at number 50, so we might see it yet.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Earrings&#8221; by Malcolm Todd<\/strong> climbs 15-13, which is a new peak. It got to 14 for the first time three weeks ago, and it&#8217;s been hovering in the top 20 since May.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Bloodstream&#8221; by Alyssa Grace<\/strong> climbs 17-14.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;My Body Isn&#8217;t Ready&#8221; by Sombr<\/strong> climbs 19-15.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Stop The Wedding&#8221; by Ashe<\/strong> climbs 23-16.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Orbiter&#8221; by Noah Kahan<\/strong> climbs 28-26.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Willing And Able&#8221; by Noah Kahan<\/strong> climbs 39-38.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The three tracks leaving the top 40 are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Hootie Frutti&#8221; by Katseye<\/strong>, which entered three weeks ago at number 33. The previous single &#8220;Animal&#8221; is showing more staying power, and remains in the top 20 after seven weeks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Petal&#8221; by Ariana Grande<\/strong>, which had a five-week run peaking at number 4; &#8220;Hate That I Made You Love Me&#8221; is still in the top 40 (just).<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;On 2Nite&#8221; by Silva Bumpa<\/strong>, with 13 weeks in the top 40 and a peak of number 9. It&#8217;s been hit by downweighting this week, so it almost certainly won&#8217;t be back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the album chart:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Kasabian &#8211; &#8220;Act III&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RldCtPsSWTU\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Their ninth studio album, their eighth number 1. (Their debut album reached number 4.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Adela &#8211; &#8220;Prima&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve covered this already.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. President &#8211; &#8220;Blood of Your Empire&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iMYl02RSHCo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Debut album. Kind of. They&#8217;re a masked metalcore band with some electronic elements. The prevailing wisdom seems to be that it&#8217;s a side project for someone with an existing profile, and the name of Charlie Simpson from Busted seems to come up a lot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Jamie Webster &#8211; &#8220;Running Around The Sun&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k6IzA7OpVQo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His fourth album &#8211; all have made the top 10, though this is the lowest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. Ellie Goulding &#8211; &#8220;I Know Too Much&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EOZUxpuO7Qw\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Something&#8217;s gone very wrong here. This is Ellie Goulding&#8217;s sixth album. None of the others placed below number 3, and four of them were number 1s. What&#8217;s this doing at number 16?<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. Dexys Midnight Runners &#8211; &#8220;Love&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6tAA66plLt4\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is their seventh studio album; their last release in 2023 got to number 6, so this isn&#8217;t terribly good. Mind you, the single above doesn&#8217;t do much for me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>22. Natalie Imbruglia &#8211; &#8220;Algorithm&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wAxRe2A_6uI\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Her last album reached number 10 in 2021; this is her lowest position since &#8220;Come To Life&#8221; failed to chart in 2009.<\/p>\n<p><strong>28. Ricky Warwick &#8211; &#8220;Fire &amp; Vengeance&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2niRHoIDiuM\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Irish trad rock. His previous album made number 25 last year. He&#8217;s better known as a member of Thin Lizzy and Black Star Riders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>30. Paris Paloma &#8211; &#8220;The Fatal Flaw&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BUGVww2uBls\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Her second album; its predecessor got to number 17. She&#8217;s probably still best known for the single &#8220;Labour&#8221;. I rather like the track above, but if this was the obvious single choice, what was the rest of the album like?<\/p>\n<p><strong>31. Beyonc\u00e9 &#8211; &#8220;B&#8217;Day&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RQ9BWndKEgs\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Anniversary reissue.
