Sienna Spiro – “Great Expectations”

Two weeks, although if the ACR rule wasn’t a thing, “Rein Me In” would still be way ahead of it. She still has three tracks in the top 40 – “Die On This Hill” climbs back to number 10 in its 36th week on the top 40, while “Pure” is clinging on at number 39. By current chart standards, “Great Expectations” is a relative newcomer at a mere eleven weeks on chart.

15. Adéla – “Nicole Kidman”

This is her second hit, following on from “Ain’t In LA”, which is currently at number 13. The parent album also got to number 2 last week. So Adéla seems to have managed a legitimate breakthrough in the 2026 market, and that’s tough. The video above is not remotely subtle, but the track’s actually pretty good, and I do think there’s more going on here than with someone like Tate McRae – though Adela tracks do also have a slight tendency to lapse into generic you-go-girl lyrics in verse 2.

The sped-up sample is from “In My Father’s House” by God’s Gospel Angels, though it’s more chopped up than you might think.

23. It reached number 3 on release in 1999, and it was their biggest UK hit (though “Waterfalls”, “Creep” and “Unpretty” were also top ten hits). I guess it’s the sort of track that’s ideally suited to this sort of rediscovery – it’s over 25 years old, it’s good, but it doesn’t get enough play for The Kids to know it already.

24. Jamie Miller – “Babydoll”

Debut hit. He came third on The Voice UK in 2017 which (as usual for that show) didn’t lead to much. This has been out for a few weeks, but it’s charting now because of the video above, with added vocals from Antonio Cipirano. I don’t think much of it. Frankly, this is music for people who find Alex Warren a bit too edgy.

30. Oasis – “Don’t Look Back In Anger”

Because they’ve announced another tour. This was a number 1 on release in 1996, and it pops up sporadically – it reaches number 25 in 2017, number 9 in 2024, and number 17 just last year. There’s also a resurgence of interest in Oasis in the album chart, with the “Time Flies” compilation climbing back into the top 10 at number 5, “What’s The Story Morning Glory” climbing 12 places to number 12, and “Definitely Maybe” re-entering at number 17. (None of the later albums make the top 100, and as far as I’m aware, there’s no rule to prevent that.)

We really are overloaded with back catalogue at the moment – even ignoring tracks which have simply never left following their release, like “Ordinary”, there are ten back catalogue tracks in the top 40 right now. Admittedly, three of those are by Dolly Parton, but if they weren’t in the top 40 then there would be two other back catalogue tracks taking their place. Number 41 is Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” from 2015, and number 43 is “Mr Brightside”.

This week’s climbers:

“Training Season” by Dua Lipa climbs 7-5.

“Stop The Wedding” by Ashe climbs 16-9 to become her first top 10 hit. This has only been on the top 40 for four weeks, so it’s good to see it making strides.

“Bloodstream” by Alyssa Grace climbs 14-12.

“Orbiter” by Noah Kahan climbs 26-22.

“Sure Thing” by Miguel climbs 27-26.

“Willing And Able” by Noah Kahan climbs 38-35.

The four tracks leaving the top 40 are:

“Blessings” by Calvin Harris featuring Clementine Douglas, after a 12-week back catalogue run that peaked at number 21.

“Jamaican (Bam Bam)” by Hugel & Solto, which re-entered at 37 last week.

“Where Is My Husband” by Raye, which has been here since last October aside from a single week over Christmas; it was number 1 in January.

“Bass Persuades” by Miley Cyrus, after a single week at number 31. So apparently it doesn’t.

On the album chart:

1.
