21 June 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next week\u2026 next week looks set\u00a0to be pretty busy at the top of the chart. \u00a0This week, yeah, not so much.<\/p>\n<p><strong>38. \u00a0Kygo featuring Parson James &#8211; &#8220;Stole The Show&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BgfcToAjfdc?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t the video display on the helmet visor Daft Punk&#8217;s thing? \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0This\u00a0is the follow-up to &#8220;Firestone&#8221;, and sees the Norwegian producer\u00a0moving away from dance music to something a bit more mid paced. \u00a0Takes forever\u00a0to get going, but\u00a0the hook is great when it finally shows up. \u00a0Parson James is from South Carolina and this looks to be one of those &#8220;do a few\u00a0guest spots before launching a major label career&#8221; jobs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/dqt8Z1k0oWQ\" target=\"_blank\">34. \u00a0The Weeknd &#8211; &#8220;I Can&#8217;t Feel My Face&#8221;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No video for this one. \u00a0It&#8217;s not a novel observation that he sounds like Michael Jackson on this, but by god, there are moments on the verses\u00a0where he <em>really\u00a0<\/em>sounds like Michael Jackson.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. \u00a0Britney Spears &amp; Iggy Azalea &#8211; &#8220;Pretty Girls&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uV2uebhnqOw?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Hmm. \u00a0It&#8217;s the\u00a0lead single from Britney Spears&#8217; album. \u00a0 This was at 8 in the midweeks,\u00a0landed at 16\u00a0at the end of the week, and\u00a0looks\u00a0on course to drop\u00a0straight out of the top 40. \u00a0So yeah, that&#8217;s a fan base record, and a dwindling fan base at that. \u00a0There&#8217;s a decent\u00a0bass line on this, and it is at least an attempt to get a bit more of her own personality onto a single, but\u00a0it&#8217;s clearly not\u00a0worked. \u00a0Part of it must be\u00a0that Britney Spears is 33 and she can&#8217;t keep doing the teen brat act indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>Weirdly, this has a co-writing credit for all four members of Little Mix.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. \u00a0Deorro x Chris Brown &#8211; &#8220;Five More Hours&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/j3CaHeakZF4?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Deorro is a Californian DJ making his first chart appearance. \u00a0Chris Brown, well,\u00a0he&#8217;s promising here to treat you like a lady. \u00a0His track record in that department\u00a0doesn&#8217;t inspire confidence.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Five More Hours&#8221; is now onto its third iteration. \u00a0It started as <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/MF6JvbfYI-8\" target=\"_blank\">an instrumental called\u00a0&#8220;Five Hours&#8221;<\/a>, which was a moderate hit as an instrumental in Europe last\u00a0year. \u00a0It&#8217;s also previously been released in America with added vocals by DyCy under the name <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/o7V8dQqB6qk\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Five Hours (Don&#8217;t Hold Me Back)&#8221;<\/a>. \u00a0The instrumental is the best of the bunch &#8211;\u00a0to be honest, the DyCy version was a bit lacklustre, so I can see why somebody thought it was worth revisiting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Jason\u00a0Derulo &#8211; &#8220;Want to Want Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s four weeks at number one, but with the midweeks showing a clean sweep of new entries in the top three, this\u00a0surely has\u00a0to be the\u00a0end of the road.<\/p>\n<p>On the album chart:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Drones&#8221; by Muse<\/strong> spends a second week at 1.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Before This World&#8221; by James Taylor<\/strong> at 4. \u00a0Taylor&#8217;s been around since the 1970s and is now 67. \u00a0He&#8217;s probably best known for his 1971 cover of &#8220;You&#8217;ve Got A Friend&#8221;, which was his only significant hit single in the UK. \u00a0On the album chart, this matches the number 4 peaks of the 1971 parent album &#8220;Mud Slide and the Blue Horizon&#8221; and his\u00a02003 greatest hits album. \u00a0 Single: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/3K1qZi6Z0e4\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Angels of Fenway&#8221;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;The Original High&#8221; by Adam Lambert<\/strong> at 8. \u00a0The runner up of\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em> in 2009. \u00a0Without the TV back story, he&#8217;s struggled to make any\u00a0impact\u00a0on the singles chart in this country &#8211; the single from this album stalled at 71 &#8211; but\u00a0strangely,\u00a0his albums are doing increasingly well. \u00a0Single: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Ix8ocFEMa1o\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Ghost Town&#8221;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Let The Road&#8221; by Rixton<\/strong> at 19. \u00a0The\u00a0single &#8220;We All Want The Same Thing&#8221; drops from 21 to 33 this week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Deja Vu&#8221; by Giorgio Moroder<\/strong> at 30. \u00a0The legendary producer released\u00a0solo albums from\u00a01969 until 1985, but remarkably, this\u00a0<em>extremely\u00a0<\/em>late-career\u00a0comeback is the first one to actually\u00a0make the album top 40. \u00a0He&#8217;s in his mid-70s now, but he&#8217;s not going out without a fight&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7u5c-Qndqio?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Next week\u2026 next week looks set\u00a0to be pretty busy at the top of the chart. \u00a0This week, yeah, not so much. 38. \u00a0Kygo featuring Parson James &#8211;
