7 August 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you were expecting\u00a0Cilla Black to show up in this week&#8217;s singles chart, then\u00a0let&#8217;s get your disappointment out of the way now. \u00a0&#8220;Anyone Who Had A Heart&#8221; did sell for a few days following her death\u00a0at the start of the week, but it lands at 41, just outside our remit here. \u00a0Instead&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>36. \u00a0Shaggy featuring Mohombi, Faydee &amp; Costi &#8211; &#8220;I Need Your Love&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3Z2ZqNckxHE?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Shaggy has\u00a0four number 1s to his credit (the earliest being &#8220;Oh Carolina&#8221; from\u00a01993), but he\u00a0hasn&#8217;t been seen in the top 40 since 2002. \u00a0 So this is a name we haven&#8217;t heard\u00a0in a while. \u00a0Not that we&#8217;re hearing too much of him on this track either, to be honest &#8211; as that catalogue of &#8220;featuring&#8221; credits\u00a0hints, there&#8217;s not actually a lot of Shaggy on this track.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because\u00a0this\u00a0<em>isn&#8217;t<\/em> a Shaggy record;\u00a0the original version, &#8220;Habibi&#8221;, is\u00a0in a mixture of\u00a0English, Spanish and Arabic, and\u00a0gives equal credit to all four artists. \u00a0Shaggy gets the lead credit on the\u00a0English language version for marketing purposes. \u00a0This is just one of numerous localised\u00a0versions. \u00a0Here&#8217;s the Russian version, which is completely free of Shaggy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vt5g0oJPcec?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As for the other three credited artists, Mohombi is a Swedish-based singer who had a hit across Europe\u00a0(but not in the UK) with <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/G2RCCDSBEGk\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Bumpy Ride&#8221;<\/a> in 2010. \u00a0Faydee is an Australian singer, but\u00a0his\u00a0family are Lebanese, which is why he&#8217;s singing in Arabic\u00a0on the original version. \u00a0And Costi is a Romanian producer who&#8217;s\u00a0had hits in various eastern European countries; he&#8217;s also\u00a0associated with\u00a0the\u00a0Romanian girl band\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/UuZHpZng6k8\" target=\"_blank\">Blaxy Girls<\/a>. \u00a0Faydee and Costi actually wrote the track, making Shaggy&#8217;s\u00a0lead credit even weirder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>28. \u00a0Joe Weller featuring Emil &#8211; &#8220;Wanna Do&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R0WYx9hFbEY?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is an oddity. \u00a0Joe Weller is a YouTuber with two million plus subscribers, he&#8217;s mainly a comedian, and the video is as\u00a0\u00a0excruciating as you&#8217;d expect from that background. \u00a0Despite that, and despite the fact that he&#8217;s released some novelty songs\u00a0before, this is\u00a0not one;\u00a0it&#8217;s a completely straightforward\u00a0dance track, and not out of place on the chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19. \u00a0Silento &#8211; &#8220;Watch Me (Whip\/Nae Nae)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vjW8wmF5VWc?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Along similar lines, here&#8217;s a viral hit that&#8217;s done well abroad but isn&#8217;t yet catching fire over here. \u00a0Silento is a 17-year-old from Georgia and\u00a0according to Wikipedia,\u00a0he&#8217;s still at school. \u00a0This was number 1 in the Flemish-speaking parts of Belgium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. \u00a0Joe Stone &amp; Montell Jordan &#8211; &#8220;The Party (This Is How We Do It)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MSYvsJA-Ua4?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Essentially a bootleg remix of Montell Jordan&#8217;s biggest\u00a0hit &#8220;This Is How We Do It&#8221;, which got\u00a0to number 11 in 1995.\u00a0\u00a0Obviously, licensing that much of the vocal track requires a co-credit. \u00a0Jordan&#8217;s last UK hit was in 2000, after which he left the Def Soul label and his career pretty much fell off a cliff. \u00a0He retired from music in 2010 after becoming a born-again Christian, and he&#8217;s now a worship leader with\u00a0the Victory World Church.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0One Direction &#8211; &#8220;Drag Me Down&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6vgs7gIeMis?rel=0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Released with no prior promotion, this is the first single\u00a0by One Direction since Zayn Malik left the group\u00a0in March. \u00a0History shows that the big\u00a0boy bands usually have another album in them beyond this point, but this is still often the turning point at which people start to get the nagging feeling that the imperial phase is over and the peak is\u00a0in the past.<\/p>\n<p>When Malik left One Direction, he said he wanted to live as a normal 22 year old and spend some time out of the spotlight.
