11 November 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, I really\u00a0<em>will<\/em> get to\u00a0<em>Deadpool v Gambit<\/em>. \u00a0But you see, I explained last\u00a0week that I was leaving it until I was in a better mood and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So! \u00a0We&#8217;ve got a new number one! \u00a0And the next chart is out tomorrow so I&#8217;d\u00a0better get this post up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Clean Bandit &#8211; &#8220;Rockabye&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/papuvlVeZg8\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Reaching number 1 in its third week, this is Clean Bandit&#8217;s second\u00a0number one. \u00a0The other was their\u00a0breakout\u00a0hit <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/m-M1AtrxztU\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Rather Be&#8221;<\/a> from 2014 &#8211; yes, I know\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rd0cT7Dnpt8\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Mozart&#8217;s\u00a0House&#8221;<\/a> made number 17 the previous year, but that&#8217;s only number 17, and besides, &#8220;Mozart&#8217;s House&#8221; was a re-release of a\u00a0gimmick record made back in 2010 long when they were playing the &#8220;strings and synths&#8221; angle mainly for novelty value. \u00a0&#8220;Rockabye&#8221; is at number 1 principally on sales, but it makes a respectable number 3 on the streaming chart as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UqyT8IEBkvY\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>5. \u00a0Bruno Mars &#8211; &#8220;24K Magic&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Edging its way up another place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ANS9sSJA9Yc\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>7. \u00a0Maroon 5 featuring Kendrick Lamar &#8211; &#8220;Don&#8217;t Wanna Know&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up four, to enter the top ten in its fourth week out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/svhGUlB9V5U\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>13. \u00a0Louisa Johnson &#8211; &#8220;So Good&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s last year&#8217;s\u00a0<em>X Factor<\/em> winner, who entered at number 20 last week. \u00a0Fortunately, her sales pattern turns out to be typical of the age\u00a0(not always the case for talent show singles), so\u00a0she&#8217;s gaining momentum. \u00a0It enters the streaming chart this week at number 25.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8gz9NsNH96Q\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>16. \u00a0Galantis &amp; Hook N Sling &#8211; &#8220;Love On Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Climbing\u00a0just another two places this week, so the momentum might be running out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H_IfNMP50lw\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>19. \u00a0Jonas Blue featuring Raye &#8211; &#8220;By Your Side&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up 2 from last week&#8217;s entry position. \u00a0Interestingly, on the sales chart, it&#8217;s on the way down; on the streaming chart, it&#8217;s only just appeared,\u00a0entering the top 40 at number 22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>24. \u00a0The Vamps featuring Matoma &#8211; &#8220;All Night&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BqaoAQbkeXo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The shift from sales to streaming has been (in chart place terms) a disaster for\u00a0bands like the Vamps &#8211; a boy band who had strong first week sales from a core fan base but struggled to\u00a0get traction with a wider audience. \u00a0The Vamps had four consecutive top five hits in 2013-2014, and yes, granted,\u00a0their careers might have tailed off by now anyway. \u00a0Still, the chart record of this single is\u00a0very telling about where they\u00a0now sit. \u00a0The\u00a0track was released four weeks ago and\u00a0just missed the top 40, having reached number 17 in sales and, um, 85 in streaming. \u00a0It&#8217;s in the top 40 now because the remaining fan base have all bought the collector&#8217;s edition\u00a0<em>CD single<\/em> &#8211; placing them at 9 in sales and 74 in streams.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sY3rIlrTTh8\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>26. \u00a0Fifth Harmony &#8211; &#8220;That&#8217;s My Girl&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This entered at number 31 three weeks ago and looked to be on its way out. \u00a0Not quite sure why it&#8217;s rebounding now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/U61Mye7h3bA\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>31. \u00a0Kideo &amp; George Kwali featuring Nadia Rose &amp; Sweetie Irie &#8211; &#8220;Crank It (Woah!)&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Climbing one place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>36. \u00a0Rae Sremmurd featuring Gucci Mane &#8211; &#8220;Black Beatles&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b8m9zhNAgKs\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This doesn&#8217;t sound at first like an obvious song to make the top 40, but it&#8217;s number 1 in America. \u00a0It&#8217;s a viral thing. \u00a0Soundtrack to a meme, you know. \u00a0People pretend to be mannequins. \u00a0Who wouldn&#8217;t want to be a mannequin right now? \u00a0It&#8217;s big. \u00a0Anyway, &#8220;Rae Sremmurd&#8221; are a duo, and their name is meant to be &#8220;Ear Drummers&#8221; written backwards. \u00a0Although that really ought to be Sremmurd Rae, and that&#8217;s the sort of thing that vaguely niggles at me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>40. \u00a0Zay Hilfigerrr &amp; Zayion McCall &#8211; &#8220;Juju On That Beat (TZ Anthem)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/a2v_zGWawP0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another viral one! \u00a0People, um, film themselves dancing to it, apparently, I guess. \u00a0That&#8217;s a meme these days. \u00a0Bar is low. \u00a0The chart listing actually says &#8220;Zay Hilfiger&#8221;, but I&#8217;m figuring he knows how his own invented last name is spelt. \u00a0The credit is a little odd, because\u00a0the backing track is taken in its entirety from Crime\u00a0Mob&#8217;s 2004 single <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/9saEpqhBP5M\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Knuck If You Buck&#8221;<\/a> &#8211; you&#8217;d think that&#8217;d merit a\u00a0&#8220;featuring&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>On the album chart:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;The Heavy Entertainment Show&#8221; by Robbie Williams<\/strong> at number 1. \u00a0That&#8217;s his twelfth number one album. \u00a0Admittedly there&#8217;s a couple of greatest hits albums in there. \u00a0But\u00a0looked at another way,\u00a0only two Robbie Williams albums have ever\u00a0<em>missed<\/em> number one, and they both got to number 2. \u00a0(Since you ask, it&#8217;s\u00a0the\u00a02003\u00a0&#8220;Live at Knebworth&#8221; album, which came out in the same week as Dido&#8217;s &#8220;Life For Rent&#8221;, and 2009&#8217;s &#8220;Reality Killed the Video Star&#8221;, which was beaten by JLS&#8217;s debut.) \u00a0Robbie Williams stopped having hit singles in 2013; the lead single from his album, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/MdYGQ7B0Vew\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Party Like A Russian&#8221;<\/a>, got to number 68.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Together&#8221; by Michael Ball\u00a0&amp; Alfie Boe<\/strong> at 2. \u00a0It&#8217;s an album of Broadway classics covers. \u00a0The chart position is surprisingly high &#8211; Ball hasn&#8217;t\u00a0been this high since his debut made number 1 in 1992, and Boe&#8217;s previous peak was number 6 for his two 2011-2 albums. \u00a0Overlapping audiences, I guess. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/1Fe3AB255Rk\" target=\"_blank\">Here&#8217;s a promotional medley.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;This\u00a0House Is Not For Sale&#8221; by Bon Jovi<\/strong> at 5. \u00a0It&#8217;s their thirteenth\u00a0studio album and, amazingly, if it doesn&#8217;t progress further, it&#8217;ll be their lowest chart placing since &#8220;Slippery When Wet&#8221; in 1986\u00a0(unless you count the 2004 rarities box set &#8220;100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can&#8217;t Be Wrong&#8221;). \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/_Ri2KEiXlNk\" target=\"_blank\">Title track.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Here&#8221; by Alicia Keys<\/strong> at 21. \u00a0Wow, after a four year gap I&#8217;d have expected that to do better. \u00a0This is set to be her lowest place for a studio album. \u00a0Single: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/DWACsH1f2So\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Blended Family (What You Do For Love)&#8221;<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;On Air&#8221;
