20 January 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To be honest, it&#8217;s a pretty quiet week,\u00a0now\u00a0that\u00a0all the corrections from last week&#8217;s recalibration\u00a0are out of the way. \u00a0But let&#8217;s get it covered anyway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/_dK2tDK9grQ\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>1. \u00a0Ed Sheeran &#8211; &#8220;Shape Of You&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a><strong>2. \u00a0Ed Sheeran &#8211; &#8220;Castle On The Hill&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K0ibBPhiaG0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Predictably, Ed Sheeran&#8217;s two singles remain locked at number 1 and 2 respectively. \u00a0&#8220;Shape of You&#8221; still has streams above the\u00a010 million mark. \u00a0Interestingly, it&#8217;s &#8220;Castle On The\u00a0Hill&#8221; that now gets a proper video, perhaps because\u00a0&#8220;Shape&#8221; doesn&#8217;t need the help, or perhaps because &#8220;Castle&#8221; is more of a teenage nostalgia story, and makes for a better video. \u00a0Particularly when he&#8217;s doing the &#8220;and here&#8217;s what my friends are doing now&#8221; bit in the last verse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. \u00a0Jax Jones &amp; Raye &#8211; &#8220;You Don&#8217;t Know Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/C5Nf4JdAQHo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Climbing 5. \u00a0Oh, and there&#8217;s now something closer to\u00a0a proper video, compared to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PKB4cioGs98\" target=\"_blank\">the animated graphic<\/a>\u00a0we had last week. \u00a0The cheap live video is something of a YouTube staple these days; this one\u00a0starts turning into more of a conventional performance video as it goes on. \u00a0Perhaps these things are starting to mutate in the same way\u00a0that lyric videos did.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8K5-2mFyKKQ\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>7. \u00a0Starley &#8211; &#8220;Call On Me&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up 1 place. \u00a0Not much more to be said about that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. \u00a0The Chainsmokers &#8211; &#8220;Paris&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RhU9MZ98jxo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>These guys are becoming a regular feature. \u00a0This is their third top ten hit. \u00a0They were still milking\u00a0their last album for singles as recently as October (when &#8220;All We Know&#8221;) got to number 24, but this one is new. \u00a0It&#8217;s another one with Andrew Taggart doing his own lead vocals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/QpbQ4I3Eidg\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>16. \u00a0Machine Gun Kelly &amp; Camilla Cabello &#8211; &#8220;Bad Things&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up seven&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/GzU8KqOY8YA\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>21. \u00a0Sean Paul featuring Dua Lipa &#8211; &#8220;No Lie&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;up seven&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/TXRCGKFCH-0\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>27. \u00a0Robin Schulz &amp; David Guetta featuring Cheat Codes &#8211; &#8220;Shed A Light&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and up five. \u00a0Again, there&#8217;s not much to be said about any of\u00a0these.<\/p>\n<p><strong>32. \u00a0Sage The Gemini &#8211; &#8220;Now And Later&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ACPd7HSZkc0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His first solo hit. \u00a0It&#8217;s not\u00a0<em>technically<\/em> a debut hit, because he guested on &#8220;G.D.F.R.&#8221; by Flo Rida back in 2015, but it&#8217;s\u00a0a chart debut in practical terms. \u00a0It&#8217;s taken nearly two months to climb to this point, but there&#8217;s at least some momentum there. \u00a0There&#8217;s an odd promotional campaign for this one:\u00a0they\u00a0included it in a Snapchat filter. \u00a0Which is novel, at least.<\/p>\n<p><strong>34. \u00a0The xx &#8211; &#8220;On Hold&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/blJKoXWlqJk\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is a re-entry &#8211; &#8220;On Hold&#8221; spent a single week at number 38 in November, before the video was even released. \u00a0It&#8217;s\u00a0presumably back now because the album was released this week &#8211; it&#8217;s at number 1 &#8211; and this remains the official single.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. \u00a0Migos &#8211; &#8220;Bad and Boujee&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S-sJp1FfG7Q\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This was a number 1 in the US, where viral tracks have the advantage that YouTube streams count towards the chart. \u00a0(The OCC doesn&#8217;t count them towards the UK chart, which seems like an obvious major shortcoming that&#8217;s going to have to be addressed at some point.) \u00a0Migos are a trio, and this is their first UK hit. \u00a0&#8220;Boujee&#8221; is short for\u00a0&#8220;bourgeois&#8221;, if you were wondering.<\/p>\n<p>On the album chart, where the new entries are top-loaded:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;I See You&#8221; by the xx<\/strong> is number 1. \u00a0It&#8217;s their third album and their second to make number 1 (the other being &#8220;Coexist&#8221; &#8211; their self-titled debut got to number 3). \u00a0We&#8217;ve already had the single.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The\u00a0<em>La La Land<\/em> soundtrack<\/strong> is number 3,\u00a0because &#8220;original cast&#8221; counts as\u00a0one artist, and escapes banishment to the compilation chart. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/cZAw8qxn0ZE\" target=\"_blank\">Here&#8217;s the version of &#8220;City of Stars&#8221; from the film.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Migration&#8221; by Bonobo<\/strong> is number 5. \u00a0That&#8217;s a big improvement from his\u00a0previous album, 2013&#8217;s &#8220;The North Border&#8221;, which\u00a0just made the bottom end of the top 40. \u00a0Single: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ebzEEEdjHj0\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;No Reason&#8221;<\/a>. \u00a0Clever video.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Piano Portraits&#8221; by Rick Wakeman<\/strong> is number 7. \u00a0His first appearance on the album chart this century, and his first\u00a0top 10 solo album since &#8220;No Earthly Connection&#8221; in 1976. \u00a0It&#8217;s\u00a0a\u00a0piano covers album, basically. \u00a0Here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ojQaOejYkhE\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Help&#8221;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Godfather&#8221;by Wiley<\/strong> is number 9. \u00a0Perversely, just as Wiley stops having hit singles, he starts having\u00a0hit albums &#8211; of\u00a0the previous ten, only 2013&#8217;s &#8220;The Ascent&#8221; even\u00a0made the album\u00a0top 40, and that\u00a0only managed number 26. \u00a0Single: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/cGP6p18H2sU\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Can&#8217;t Go Wrong&#8221;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Oczy Mlody&#8221;
