{"id":3667,"date":"2017-01-31T23:11:48","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T23:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.housetoastonish.com\/?p=3667"},"modified":"2017-01-31T23:11:48","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T23:11:48","slug":"charts-27-january-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.housetoastonish.com\/?p=3667","title":{"rendered":"Charts &#8211; 27 January 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not a very eventful week, but hey, at least\u00a0there are some new videos!<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Ed Sheeran &#8211; &#8220;Shape Of You&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JGwWNGJdvx8\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Third week, with &#8220;Castle On The Hill&#8221; still locked at 2. \u00a0&#8220;Shape Of You&#8221; had 56,000 downloads and 9.57 million streams. \u00a0It&#8217;s likely to be here for a while to come. \u00a0And it has a video now, because that&#8217;s the modern way &#8211;\u00a0the video isn&#8217;t there to build to the release any more, it&#8217;s there to give it a boost once it&#8217;s underway.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->It&#8217;s a\u00a0weird video. \u00a0&#8220;Shape of You&#8221;\u00a0is a pretty straight love song, and fair enough, you can&#8217;t just film that straight. \u00a0So instead we&#8217;ve got Ed Sheeran meeting a girl in his boxing gym, which is not exactly something you&#8217;d associate with Ed Sheeran, but it kind of works. \u00a0And then there&#8217;s a really grindingly bad gear change near the end, which doesn&#8217;t work at all.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PKB4cioGs98\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>3. \u00a0Jax Jones featuring Raye &#8211; &#8220;You Don&#8217;t Know Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Edging up another\u00a0place. \u00a0There&#8217;s a lot of that sort of thing on this chart, be warned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. \u00a0Little Mix &#8211; &#8220;Touch&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gBAfejjUQoA\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This has been around for ages, and it&#8217;s\u00a0actually returning to a previous peak after moving 23-4-4-4-5-6-4. \u00a0(It really likes number 4.) \u00a0But it&#8217;s got a video now,\u00a0though it&#8217;s pretty weak, to be honest. \u00a0Generic Girl Band Video D.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8K5-2mFyKKQ\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>6. \u00a0Starley &#8211; &#8220;Call On Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up\u00a0one place, for the second week running&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8K5-2mFyKKQ\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>7. \u00a0The Chainsmokers &#8211; &#8220;Paris&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;up three from its entry point last week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/GzU8KqOY8YA\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>11. \u00a0Sean Paul featuring Dua Lipa &#8211; &#8220;No Lie&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and up ten, which is a bit more notable. \u00a0It&#8217;s now Dua Lipa&#8217;s\u00a0highest chart place, beating last year&#8217;s &#8220;Hotter Than Hell&#8221; (which got to 15). \u00a0She&#8217;ll be back\u00a0a bit later on, too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ACPd7HSZkc0\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>20. \u00a0Sage The Gemini &#8211; &#8220;Now And Later&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up twelve from last week&#8217;s entry point. \u00a0Snapchat promotion works, evidently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21. \u00a0Dua Lipa &#8211; &#8220;Be The One&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mgI_pH8TOVY\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s highest new entry. \u00a0This is a re-promotion of a single originally released in 2015 which made no impact at all in the UK, though it did quite well in the rest of Europe. \u00a0Why release another single from the upcoming album when you&#8217;ve already got one that nobody&#8217;s paid any attention to? \u00a0They&#8217;ve made a new video for it &#8211; on its original release, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/-rey3m8SWQI\" target=\"_blank\">it had this.<\/a>\u00a0 Mind you, that original video is basically &#8220;we have no money so let&#8217;s take Dua Lipa to various places and point a camera at her&#8221;, so I\u00a0can see why you&#8217;d have another go.<\/p>\n<p>I like this, actually. \u00a0It&#8217;s far and away\u00a0the best thing she&#8217;s had on the chart to date, and there&#8217;s something\u00a0serenely\u00a0timeless about it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>24. \u00a0Robin Schulz\u00a0&amp; David Guetta featuring Cheat Codes &#8211; &#8220;Shed A Light&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vdI0JLVhdYc\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Up another three places. \u00a0It has a video now too,\u00a0which is corny as hell.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/TXRCGKFCH-0\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>34. \u00a0Migos &#8211; &#8220;Bad and Boujee&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up three places in its second week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>35. \u00a0Tinie Tempah featuring Tinashe &#8211; &#8220;Text From Your Ex&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.spotify.com\/?uri=spotify%3Atrack%3A1G1r2ectZOGeOkZmKtAP3m\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a slightly underwhelming start for a new track, but it\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">is<\/span><\/em> the first week and\u00a0there&#8217;s no video for it. \u00a0Technically this is the fourth single from an upcoming\u00a0album,\u00a0but we look to be in the Calvin\u00a0Harris model of the &#8220;album&#8221; being a periodic sweeper-up of singles &#8211; the first single was &#8220;Not Letting Go&#8221;, a number one back in July 2015. \u00a0The second was &#8220;Girls Like&#8221;, which made number 5\u00a0last March. \u00a0The third was &#8220;Mamacita&#8221;, which missed the top 40\u00a0last July. \u00a0And then there&#8217;s a long, long gap before\u00a0this promotion resumes. \u00a0Odd.<\/p>\n<p>Tinashe is an American singer who had moderate success in the US with her debut album in 2014, and not so much with the follow-up last year. \u00a0This is her second appearance on the UK chart, following her guest vocal on Snakehips&#8217; &#8220;All My Friends&#8221;, which\u00a0made the top 5 last February.<\/p>\n<p>On the album chart:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Classic House&#8221; by Pete Tong with the Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley<\/strong>\u00a0surprisingly climbs to number 1. \u00a0It&#8217;s basically the same &#8220;dance classics with an orchestra&#8221; schtick as last year&#8217;s Hacienda album, but with more of the original electronics.\u00a0 Single: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/yxxe_ApmwEo\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Your Love&#8221;.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In another unusual instance of something\u00a0actually climbing the album chart,\u00a0the\u00a0<em><strong>La La Land<\/strong><\/em><strong> OST<\/strong> is up one\u00a0place to 2.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Return to Ommadawn&#8221; by Mike Oldfield<\/strong>\u00a0is the highest new entry\u00a0at 4. \u00a0Not current available for streaming,\u00a0and it&#8217;s hardly surprising that it isn&#8217;t on YouTube since it consists of two 20-minute tracks. \u00a0It&#8217;s Oldfield&#8217;s 26th studio album, and a sequel to 1975&#8217;s &#8220;Ommadawn&#8221;. \u00a0His albums continue to chart decently, but number 4 is his highest\u00a0placing since &#8220;Tubular Bells III&#8221; back in 1998.<\/li>\n<li>Another climber?!?
