1 June 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not much happening, to be honest, but hey, we&#8217;ve got a format to keep up&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Calvin Harris &amp; Dua Lipa &#8211; &#8220;One Kiss&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seven weeks, so it&#8217;s now clearly Calvin Harris&#8217;s longest-running number one, outlasting the six weeks of Rihanna&#8217;s &#8220;We Found Love&#8221; back in 2011. \u00a0And that was a &#8220;featuring&#8221; credit, anyway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. \u00a0George Ezra &#8211; &#8220;Shotgun&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v_B3qkp4nO4\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->This is actually a re-entry &#8211; it spent a week at number 35 when the album came out in April &#8211; but it&#8217;s a single now. \u00a0It has a video and everything. \u00a0Officially it&#8217;s a lyric video, but I have no idea why, because it would be a perfectly normal looking video if you just took the captions off. \u00a0I think I compared this to Maroon 5 when it first charted, didn&#8217;t I? \u00a0Ezra always feels to me like a weirdly distant presence in videos, and this is no exception. \u00a0But he&#8217;s doing well with this album &#8211; the lead single &#8220;Paradise&#8221; peaked at number 2, and it&#8217;s still in the top ten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>29. \u00a0A$AP Rocky featuring Skepta &#8211; &#8220;Praise The Lord (Da Shine)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_eDpH4hMW1o\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A$AP Rocky&#8217;s only previous appearance on the singles top 40 was in 2015, when he guested on a Selena Gomez single (&#8220;Good For You&#8221;). \u00a0Then again, it&#8217;s not as if Skepta has regular hit singles either, so maybe it&#8217;s just a case of two different audiences. \u00a0Or maybe it&#8217;s just that this has a fantastic hook.<\/p>\n<p>The parent album &#8220;Testing&#8221; enters at 11, only marginally lower than its predecessor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. \u00a0Drake &#8211; &#8220;I&#8217;m Upset&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/track\/54oMZ3blwWwuPN4wEoG5mk\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The second single from Drake&#8217;s upcoming album &#8220;Scorpion&#8221;. \u00a0The reviews have not been especially positive &#8211; it&#8217;s exactly as whiny as the title might lead you to expect, and not his best work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>39. \u00a0Dappy featuring Ay Em &#8211; &#8220;Oh My&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yKtUv2QQavk\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the bloke with the hat from N-Dubz! \u00a0We haven&#8217;t seen him since &#8220;Beautiful Me&#8221; reached number 19 in 2015; a single last autumn missed the top 40. \u00a0This is going for the fashionable afro style. \u00a0It can&#8217;t help but come across as a stab at continued relevancy, but that aside, it&#8217;s not so bad.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;2002&#8221; by Anne-Marie<\/strong> moves 4-3, overtaking &#8220;Friends&#8221; to become her second biggest hit (after her guest credit on Clean Bandit&#8217;s number one &#8220;Rockabye&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;ll Be There&#8221; by Jess Glynne<\/strong> moves 6-5.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Better Now&#8221; by Post Malone<\/strong> moves 10-9.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Solo&#8221; by Clean Bandit featuring Demi Lovato<\/strong> climbs 12-10. \u00a0So Clean Bandit continue an uninterrupted string of top ten hits dating back to 2014. \u00a0This has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8JnfIa84TnU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an official video<\/a> now.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Familiar&#8221; by Liam Payne &amp; J<\/strong> Balvin climbs 21-15.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Bad Vibe&#8221; by M O, Lotto Boyzz &amp; Mr Eazi<\/strong> climbs 20-18. \u00a0This record has taken twelve weeks to climb nine places.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;If You&#8217;re Over Me&#8221; by Years &amp; Years<\/strong> climbs 24-23.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;First Time&#8221; by M-22 featuring Medina<\/strong> climbs 26-24.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Back To You&#8221; by Selena Gomez<\/strong> climbs 29-27.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Leave a Light On&#8221; by Tom Walker<\/strong> climbs 35-31.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Family Tree&#8221; by Ramz<\/strong> climbs 40-36.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the album chart,\u00a0<strong>The\u00a0<em>Greatest Showman<\/em> soundtrack<\/strong> spends a seventeenth week at number one, and continues to outsell everything listed below. \u00a0For a change, all the new entries on the albums chart are clustered at the top.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. \u00a0Snow Patrol &#8211; &#8220;Wildness&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D52qnC7dJcQ\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been seven years since the last Snow Patrol album, but they maintain their perfect record of making the top three, going back to 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Number 3 is\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Shawn Mendes&#8221; by Shawn Mendes<\/strong>. \u00a0That matches the peak of his previous album &#8220;Illuminate&#8221;. \u00a0The single &#8220;In My Blood&#8221; made number 10 in April.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. \u00a0Biffy Clyro &#8211; &#8220;MTV Unplugged &#8211; Live at Roundhouse&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Tuxu77XekMQ\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Biffy Clyro albums have been consistently placing in the top 10 for a decade now (well, aside from 2014&#8217;s B-sides compliation), but number 4 for a live album is still doing pretty well. \u00a0Let&#8217;s go with &#8220;Many of Horror&#8221;, the one that got used as an\u00a0<em>X Factor<\/em> winner&#8217;s single under the name &#8220;When We Collide&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. \u00a0CHVRCHES &#8211; &#8220;Love Is Dead&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LHUKKrcXfJs\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The third album maintains a perfect record for reaching the top 10. \u00a0CHVRCHES only ever had one very minor hit single (&#8220;The Mother We Share&#8221;, which made number 38 in 2013), which is clearly ridiculous. \u00a0The video above reminds me of Orbital&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H8MqukXIiVQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Saint&#8221;<\/a> video &#8211; the version that didn&#8217;t get much TV play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. \u00a0Pusha T &#8211; &#8220;Daytona&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zGchOptfU-Q\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>First time he&#8217;s appeared in the album chart, though he did guest on a Pixie Lott single, &#8220;What Do You Take Me For&#8221;, which made number 10 back in 2011. \u00a0Feuding with Drake will raise your profile, I guess. \u00a0(The video above features strobing, by the way.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not much happening, to be honest, but hey, we&#8217;ve got a format to keep up&#8230;
