25 July 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, this is going to be easy.<\/p>\n<p>In a week with virtually no significant new releases &#8211; as in, the highest new entry was at number 20 &#8211; the number 1 slot is once again traded between records that have been on the chart a while. \u00a0This week, it&#8217;s <strong>&#8220;We No Speak Americano&#8221; by Yolanda Be Cool &amp; D-Cup.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"560\" height=\"340\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/CR8logunPzQ&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"560\" height=\"340\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/CR8logunPzQ&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->And I already <a href=\"http:\/\/www.housetoastonish.com\/?p=409\" target=\"_blank\">wrote about that single at great length two weeks ago<\/a>. \u00a0So hop over to that post and scroll down a bit.<\/p>\n<p>There are five other new entries on this week&#8217;s chart, and they&#8217;re a distinctly motley collection.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number 20 is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DJ_Got_Us_Fallin%27_In_Love\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;DJ Got Us Falling In Love&#8221; by Usher featuring Pitbull.<\/a><\/strong> No official video for this one, as far as I can see. \u00a0It&#8217;s the lead single from Usher&#8217;s &#8220;Versus&#8221; EP, and it&#8217;s, you know, radio-friendly. \u00a0Usher&#8217;s 16th top 40 hit, and the seventh in only two years for serial collaborator Pitbull.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Saturday&#8221; by Basshunter<\/strong> at number 21. \u00a0A seventh hit for the extremely irritating Swedish techno act. \u00a0This actually represents something of a change of direction, as by his standards, it&#8217;s downright nuanced. \u00a0By anyone else&#8217;s standards, it&#8217;s routine Europop. \u00a0I query the video director&#8217;s decision to spend quite so long pointing the camera at Basshunter, who evidently thinks he&#8217;s quite sexy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"560\" height=\"340\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iguvG6ytSn8&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"560\" height=\"340\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iguvG6ytSn8&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ogMNV33AhCY&amp;feature=avmsc2\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Witchcraft&#8221; by Pendulum<\/a><\/strong> at number 28. \u00a0Fifth hit for the Australian rock\/rave hybrid band. \u00a0They&#8217;re getting into a bit of a rut, I think. \u00a0I&#8217;m tempted to say that all Pendulum singles sound alike, but that wouldn&#8217;t be <em>quite<\/em> fair &#8211; the dance instrumental\u00a0&#8220;Slam&#8221;\u00a0(no 34 in 2005) was a bit different&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/YWnpwV63KiY&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/YWnpwV63KiY&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E1wKCXbrK74\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The Boy Who Murdered Love&#8221; by Diana Vickers<\/a><\/strong> at number 36. \u00a0Follow-up single to her number one debut &#8220;Once&#8221; from earlier in the year. \u00a0But this&#8217;ll be the early promotion of a follow-up single, so it&#8217;ll probably climb. \u00a0It&#8217;s a bit of a grower, actually.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=O0mQ0MvyP-c&amp;feature=avmsc2\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Famous&#8221; by Scouting for Girls<\/a> <\/strong>at number 37. \u00a0Scouting for Girls have noticed that it&#8217;s possible to get on TV without having any talent, and they&#8217;ve written a little ditty to express wry amusement about it. \u00a0Fearlessly surfing the zeitgeist of 2005 there. \u00a0Their seventh hit, and while it&#8217;s likely to climb, I don&#8217;t see it matching the number 1 peak of the last single &#8220;This Ain&#8217;t A Love Song&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, this is going to be easy.
