10 August 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week: Travis Scott has an album out! \u00a0And&#8230;. um&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;yeah, that&#8217;s about it, to be honest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Drake &#8211; &#8220;In My Feelings&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four weeks. \u00a0Its streaming points are still growing, but only very slightly; despite the release of the video during this chart week (which counts to the chart now, remember), it seems like this could be the peak. \u00a0The album is at 4; the other two singles are on their way out of the chart, currently sitting at 19 and 30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. \u00a0Travis Scott &#8211; &#8220;Sicko Mode&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=V-Hw2PlyhFQ&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">15. \u00a0Travis Scott &#8211; &#8220;Stargazing&#8221;<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qe-gnV-lvfE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">29. \u00a0Travis Scott &#8211; &#8220;Carousel&#8221;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/d-JBBNg8YKs\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Travis Scott is now on his third album, and his audience is growing. \u00a0&#8220;Rodeo&#8221; reached number 22 in 2015; &#8220;Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight&#8221; reached number 19 in 2016; but this week &#8220;Astroworld&#8221; enters at number three (behind\u00a0<em>Mamma Mia<\/em> and the seemingly unkillable\u00a0<em>Greatest Showman<\/em> soundtrack, so it&#8217;s the top artist album on a more traditional definition). \u00a0It duly spawns the maximum three singles for the chart, though they don&#8217;t include the one actually being pushed as an official single, &#8220;Stop Trying To Be God&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But Travis Scott hasn&#8217;t previously registered on the singles chart, at least as a lead artist. \u00a0His only previous appearances in the top 40 were last year, when he guested on Drake&#8217;s &#8220;Portland&#8221; (number 27) and Major Lazer&#8217;s &#8220;Know No Better&#8221; (number 15). \u00a0Which makes this a heck of a step up.<\/p>\n<p>So why these three, then? \u00a0Well, they <em>are<\/em> the first three tracks on the album, though not in this order, so that alone ought to give them some chance of being streamed more often. \u00a0&#8220;Sicko Mode&#8221; is an eccentric multi-component medley which wouldn&#8217;t normally get promoted as a single, but it does have an uncredited Drake to bring in the streams. \u00a0&#8220;Carousel&#8221; has Frank Ocean. \u00a0And\u00a0&#8220;Stargazing&#8221; has a video, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=V-Hw2PlyhFQ&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">although it&#8217;s described as an album trailer<\/a>, and only has about half the song. \u00a0None of it&#8217;s really my thing, but it&#8217;s very 2018.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s pretty much it &#8211; there&#8217;s one solitary other new entry right down at the bottom end of the top 40.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. \u00a0Hardy Caprio featuring One Acen &#8211; &#8220;Best Life&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-xorObnNraM\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Off the peg UK rap. \u00a0It&#8217;s Hardy Caprio&#8217;s second hit, following &#8220;Rapper&#8221;, which reached number 34 in March. \u00a0Perfectly okay but no stand out.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;No Brainer&#8221; by DJ Khaled featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo &amp; Chance The Rapper<\/strong> climbs 4-3.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Body&#8221; by Loud Luxury featuring Brando<\/strong> climbs 19-8.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Taste&#8221; by Tyga featuring Offset<\/strong> climbs 11-10, giving Tyga his first top ten hit under his own power. \u00a0He&#8217;s been here three times before as a guest, though.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Lucid Dreams&#8221; by Juice Wrld<\/strong> edges up 12-11, still climbing (very slowly) in its ninth week on the chart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Eastside&#8221; by Benny Blanco featuring Halsey &amp; Khalid<\/strong> climbs 23-12.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Panic Room&#8221; by Au\/ra &amp; Camelphat<\/strong> edges 35-34.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the albums chart, things are only marginally more excitable. \u00a0The\u00a0<strong><em>Mamma Mia &#8211; Here We Go Again<\/em><\/strong> soundtrack spends a third week at number one, and\u00a0<strong>Travis Scott&#8217;s &#8220;Astroworld&#8221;<\/strong> enters at 3&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. \u00a0James &#8211; &#8220;Living in Extraordinary Times&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u2OL2CHSs4Q\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The general public may remember James mostly for their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zPNw_2h0CnU&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1990s hit &#8220;Sit Down&#8221;<\/a> (actually first released in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ew7Zkkucos8&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a rather more indie version in 1989<\/a>), which reached number 2 as a re-issue in 1991. \u00a0But they&#8217;ve never really gone away, except for a few years between 2000 and 2006. \u00a0They&#8217;ve been releasing albums steadily since re-forming, and placing quite respectably &#8211; this is the second post-reunion album to make the top 10. \u00a0James haven&#8217;t greatly changed in style, but the video above is pretty solid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. \u00a0Deaf Havana &#8211; &#8220;Rituals&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jpeJAPl1iZk\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The last three Deaf Havana albums all made the top 10, so it&#8217;s no surprise that this one does too. \u00a0Starting off as a post-hardcore band, this bunch have meandered increasingly into pop over the years. \u00a0Despite the vague religious theme linking the album (&#8220;Wake&#8221;, &#8220;Sinner&#8221;, &#8220;Ritual&#8221;, &#8220;Hell&#8221;, &#8220;Holy&#8221;&#8230; that&#8217;s just the first five tracks in order), they&#8217;re in commercial radio territory by this point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. \u00a0Mac Miller &#8211; &#8220;Swimming&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SsKT0s5J8ko\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mac Miller has been around for years, more as a producer, but this is his fifth album and the first to scrape the bottom end of the albums top 40.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week: Travis Scott has an album out! \u00a0And&#8230;. um&#8230;
