{"id":4263,"date":"2018-08-18T16:33:54","date_gmt":"2018-08-18T15:33:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.housetoastonish.com\/?p=4263"},"modified":"2018-08-18T16:33:54","modified_gmt":"2018-08-18T15:33:54","slug":"charts-17-august-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.housetoastonish.com\/?p=4263","title":{"rendered":"Charts &#8211; 17 August 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More of an albums chart week, this. \u00a0But let&#8217;s quickly knock through the singles chart first. \u00a0Believe me, this won&#8217;t take long.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0George Ezra &#8211; &#8220;Shotgun&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aAiVsqfbn5g\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a little unexpected. \u00a0&#8220;Shotgun&#8221; had two weeks at number one in July, but it&#8217;s been stuck at number two for five weeks behind first &#8220;Three Lions&#8221;, and then Drake. \u00a0Returning to number one is less rare than it used to be, though still unusual; returning to number one after five weeks is still pretty rare.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong>36. \u00a0Nicki Minaj &#8211; &#8220;Barbie Dreams&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/track\/6Poyf51k7W3NKnsGwAI90B\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>No, we haven&#8217;t skipped anything. \u00a0This is the highest new entry. \u00a0It&#8217;s not to be confused with &#8220;Barbie Tingz&#8221;, the promotional single that got to number 31 in April.<\/p>\n<p>This is the track being cherrypicked from her album &#8220;Queen&#8221;, which enters the album chart this week at, um, 5. \u00a0&#8220;The Pinkprint&#8221; only got to 22, so maybe that&#8217;s not so bad. \u00a0Still, you&#8217;d think a Nicki Minaj album would be a bigger deal than that; the official single, &#8220;Bed&#8221;, climbs 38-23, which is still below its entry point back in June.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Barbie Dreams&#8221; is a semi-cover of &#8220;Just Playing (Dreams)&#8221; by the Notorious B.I.G., in which (to quote Genius) &#8220;Biggie runs through a list of his favourite R&amp;B singers and what he&#8217;d like to do to them&#8221;. \u00a0Lil&#8217; Kim did a version of the same idea in 1996, as did, um, Nicki Minaj on &#8220;Dreams&#8221;, from her 2007 album &#8220;Playtime Is Over&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. \u00a0David Guetta featuring Anne-Marie &#8211; &#8220;Don&#8217;t Leave Me Alone&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OQfLvlZGYFM\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A slow start, but the same went for the previous single &#8220;Flames&#8221;, and that made it to the top 10 in the end. \u00a0It&#8217;s a ballad and I&#8217;m not sure Guetta&#8217;s production does it many favours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>40. \u00a0Lily James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alexa Davies &amp; Celia Imrie &#8211; &#8220;When I Kissed The Teacher&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BWnKGYnuE8o\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is the official single from the\u00a0<em>Mamma Mia 2<\/em> soundtrack, and it&#8217;s been hanging around just outside the top 40 for a couple of weeks now. \u00a0Abba&#8217;s original version of &#8220;When I Kissed The Teacher&#8221; wasn&#8217;t a single in the UK, so this is its first chart appearance. \u00a0It is the first hit single for any of these four actresses, although Celia Imrie did win an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for\u00a0<em>Acorn Antiques<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Eastside&#8221; by Benny Blanco featuring Halsey and Khalid<\/strong> climbs 12-4. \u00a0That&#8217;s the first time Halsey&#8217;s been in the top 10 since she sang on &#8220;Closer&#8221; by the Chainsmokers two years ago.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Body&#8221; by Loud Luxury featuring Brando<\/strong> climbs 8-6.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Ring Ring&#8221; by Jax Jones featuring Mabel and Rich The Kid<\/strong> climbs 16-13.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Only You&#8221; by Cheat Codes &amp; Little Mix<\/strong> climbs 17-14.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Nevermind&#8221; by Dennis Lloyd<\/strong> climbs 25-19.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Ocean&#8221; by Martin Garrix featuring Khalid<\/strong> climbs 31-25.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;079me&#8221; by B Young<\/strong> climbs 39-28.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Fine Girl&#8221; by Ziezie<\/strong> climbs 33-30.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Best Life&#8221; by Hardy Caprio featuring One Acen<\/strong> climbs 37-33.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over on the album chart&#8230; okay, deep breath&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong><em>Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0soundtrack is still number one. \u00a0<strong>&#8220;Queen&#8221; by Nicki Minaj<\/strong> is the highest new entry at 5, and we&#8217;ve covered that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. \u00a0Miles Kane &#8211; &#8220;Coup de Grace&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ffkom6CLA78\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Miles Kane is the other one from the Last Shadow Puppets. \u00a0This is his third solo album, and it matches the peak of its predecessor. \u00a0The guy beating him up in the video is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Z0IGtUjRJMQ&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WWE wrestler Finn B\u00e1lor<\/a>, which I wasn&#8217;t expecting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. \u00a0Elvis Presley &#8211; &#8220;Where No One Stands Alone&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RaRaUjzD-as\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s another of those albums which takes Presley&#8217;s vocals and sticks new orchestration on them. \u00a0This time round, gospel. \u00a0Here&#8217;s Elvis duetting with Lisa Marie Presley. \u00a0According to the Presley estate&#8217;s website, the album as &#8220;groundbreaking&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. \u00a0Il Divo &#8211; &#8220;Timeless&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QsWqIbC7Vk0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cowell-affiliated pop-classical outfit who&#8217;ve been around for fourteen years now. \u00a0They&#8217;re more of a pop act with classical-style vocals than the usual Classic FM formula, which has given them a niche. \u00a0The track above is Adele&#8217;s &#8220;Hello&#8221; translated into Spanish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. \u00a0The Coral &#8211; &#8220;Move Through The Dawn&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FilKHDQwMoU\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Their second album since a comeback in 2016, though they only split up for five years or so. \u00a0This is their four consecutive album to place somewhere between 13 and 16, so they&#8217;re nothing if not consistent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. \u00a0Massive Wagons &#8211; &#8220;Full Nelson&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8IzGWKjGf_k\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re a rock band from Lancaster and they claim this is the first time that a band from Lancaster have had a top 40 album. \u00a0I&#8217;m not quite sure how they&#8217;ve checked that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. \u00a0The Proclaimers &#8211; &#8220;Angry Cyclist&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7qTbLoyQ23g\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Still going in their mid-50s, the Proclaimers are known in many places simply for &#8220;500 Miles&#8221;, but they&#8217;re much better than that would give them credit for. \u00a0This is their highest chart position since 2007.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19. \u00a0Trippie Redd &#8211; &#8220;Life&#8217;s a Trip&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wrvN87l3s08\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>(Contains violence, though mainly with zombies.) \u00a0Debut rap album, though as usual with these things, it&#8217;s a debut in the sense that the preceding releases were apparently mixtapes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. \u00a0Jake Shears &#8211; &#8220;Jake Shears&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5U5Sq5ILtbo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s the guy from Scissor Sisters, and this is his first solo album. \u00a0As you can see, it is not a major aesthetic departure point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>29. \u00a0As It Is &#8211;
