2 November 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A relative handful of new entries this week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bo_efYhYU2A&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>1. \u00a0Lady Gaga &amp; Bradley Cooper &#8211; &#8220;Shallow&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two weeks. \u00a0To be honest, it&#8217;s been a bit lucky &#8211; it&#8217;s a quiet period, and it&#8217;s managed both weeks on sales that wouldn&#8217;t normally get the job done. \u00a0On the other hand, it&#8217;s still gaining momentum, so it could still have another week in it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. \u00a0XXXTentacion &amp; Lil Pump featuring Maluma &amp; Swae Lee &#8211; &#8220;Arms Around You&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BxFvI-zpaRs\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->XXXTentacion seems to be turning into the new Tupac. \u00a0Except that&#8217;s probably easier in 2018, because you can take a fragment from an unfinished track and round it out with a bunch of guest stars. \u00a0&#8220;Arms Around You&#8221; started life as a collaboration with Rio Santana, whose contribution has been unceremoniously ditched. \u00a0In fact, what we have here is simply XXXTentacion&#8217;s vocals for the chorus, with the three verses supplied by Lil Pump (who&#8217;s also on &#8220;I Love It&#8221; at number 11), Maluma (a Colombian singer, making his first chart appearance), and Swae Lee (of whom more later). \u00a0It&#8217;s a passable mainstream pop song but a dubious entry in the XXXTentacion canon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>34. \u00a0Billie Eilish &#8211; &#8220;When the Party&#8217;s Over&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pbMwTqkKSps\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Her first UK hit, though a collaboration with Khalid just missed the top 40 during the summer. \u00a0It&#8217;s a slow-build ballad which stands out a mile in the chart, and the video is fantastic. \u00a0Definitely worth a play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>36. \u00a0Ellie Goulding x Diplo featuring Swae Lee &#8211; &#8220;Close To Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YESpUqrKwS8\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Goulding&#8217;s been away for a while &#8211; her last chart credit was for guesting on a Kygo single that reached number 34 last May, and she hasn&#8217;t had a hit of her own in a couple of years. \u00a0Presumably this is the start of the campaign for the next album. \u00a0Bit of a slow start, but it&#8217;s the first week on release, and it&#8217;s a strong single that has every chance of going further. \u00a0Swae Lee gets his second hit of the week, and Diplo, well, he&#8217;s just ubiquitous.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Woman Like Me&#8221; by Little Mix featuring Nicki Minaj<\/strong> climbs 6-2. \u00a0That makes it Little Mix&#8217;s biggest hit since &#8220;Shout Out To My Ex&#8221; in 2016. \u00a0For Nicki Minaj, it&#8217;s her biggest hit since &#8220;Bang Bang&#8221;, with Jessie J and Ariana Grande &#8211; her only UK number one, back in 2014. \u00a0Her biggest hit as the lead artist was &#8220;Starships&#8221;, which reached number 2 in 2012.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Zeze&#8221; by Kodak Black featuring Travis Scott and Offset<\/strong> climbs 8-7.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Lose Without You&#8221; by Freya Ridings<\/strong> climbs 13-9 to enter the top 10.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Back &amp; Forth&#8221; by MK, Jonas Blue &amp; Becky Hill<\/strong> climbs 16-15.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Thursday&#8221; by Jess Glynne<\/strong> climbs 23-18.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Taki Taki&#8221; by DJ Snake featuring Selenz Gomez, Cardi B and Ozuna<\/strong> climbs 22-20.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Without Me&#8221; by Halsey<\/strong> climbs 26-22.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Ruin My Life&#8221; by Zara Larsson<\/strong> climbs 31-28.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Advice&#8221; by Cadet &amp; Deno Driz<\/strong> climbs 37-33.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over on the album chart&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Andrea Bocelli &#8211; &#8220;Si&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jd6HfKGTIIY\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Andrea Bocelli has had ten previous top 10 albums, but this is his first number one. \u00a0The Official Chart Company is claiming this as the first classical album to reach number one in twenty years, but that&#8217;s under a very broad definition of classical; the track above is a duet with Dua Lipa, and there&#8217;s an Ed Sheeran track on the album too. \u00a0In fact, that &#8220;twenty years&#8221; figure depends on you counting the\u00a0<em>Titanic<\/em> soundtrack album as a classical album too. \u00a0If you prefer a stricter definition of &#8220;classical&#8221;, the last classical number one album would have been the Three Tenors concert album from 1994.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. \u00a0Tom Odell &#8211; &#8220;Jubilee Road&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_5pSQGk9BXQ\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is his third album, and the lowest charting &#8211; but the top 5 is still perfectly respectable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. \u00a0Boy George &amp; Culture Club &#8211; &#8220;Life&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/McifsS0OYlo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Culture Club, who for some reason are now crediting Boy George separately, re-formed in 2014 and tried (and failed) to record an album at the time. \u00a0A re-working of that album now finally sees the light of day. \u00a0It&#8217;s middle aged reggae, basically.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. \u00a0Thom Yorke &#8211; &#8220;Suspiria &#8211; OST&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ISkEKLYRxi0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Exactly what it says &#8211; the soundtrack album to a remake of\u00a0the horror classic\u00a0<em>Suspiria<\/em>. \u00a0Thom Yorke has released two previous solo albums: &#8220;The Eraser&#8221; reached number 3 in 2006, while 2014&#8217;s &#8220;Tomorrow Modern Boxes&#8221; didn&#8217;t chart, presumably because it was released principally on Bit Torrent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. \u00a0The Kingdom Choir &#8211; &#8220;Stand By Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ciy7XqZZmY0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As seen at the Royal Wedding. \u00a0This is their first appearance on the regular album chart; the track above is a cover of Stormzy&#8217;s &#8220;Blinded By Your Grace, Part 2&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18. \u00a0Tory Lanez &#8211; &#8220;LoVE me NOw&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FR3GPARqdIg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His second album this year, and since the other one reached number 8, this seems a bit disappointing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21. \u00a0Robyn &#8211; &#8220;Honey&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7IxdQUpQjqc\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Pretty much exactly where Robyn&#8217;s last album landed (her collaboration with Royksopp in 2014), and actually higher than most Robyn albums have managed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>26. \u00a0Joji &#8211; &#8220;Ballads 1&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yLS90RD585o\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ah, albums by ex-YouTubers. \u00a0This is the guy who brought you the Harlem Shake viral video, but it&#8217;s a proper album, albeit with middling reviews.<\/p>\n<p><strong>27. \u00a0Razorlight &#8211; &#8220;Olympus Sleeping&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9DoW5Ar6xek\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Finally, Razorlight have released their first album in a decade. \u00a0It&#8217;s also their first to miss the top five.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A relative handful of new entries this week&#8230;
