29 March 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is starting to get a little bit repetitive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Lewis Capaldi &#8211; &#8220;Someone You Loved&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Five weeks. \u00a0That&#8217;s the longest we&#8217;ve had since &#8220;Thank U Next&#8221; in the run-up to Christmas. \u00a0Poor <strong>&#8220;Giant&#8221; by Calvin Harris and Rag&#8217;N&#8217;Bone Man<\/strong> has been stuck behind it the whole time.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Just You and I&#8221; by Tom Walker<\/strong> climbs 4-3, and\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Sucker&#8221; by the Jonas Brothers<\/strong> goes 5-4. \u00a0<strong>&#8220;Location&#8221; by Dave featuring Burna Boy<\/strong> has now moved 11-8-6, which is odd, since it&#8217;s not the official single &#8211; that&#8217;s &#8220;Streatham&#8221;, which falls to 22 (while &#8220;Disaster&#8221; falls to 15).<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. \u00a0Steel Banglez featuring AJ Tracey &amp; MoStack &#8211; &#8220;Fashion Week&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2cnEoKLsQQc\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Steel Banglez is a producer whose records show up fairly often in the top 40, but doesn&#8217;t generally take an artist credit. \u00a0This is only the second time his name has appeared on the chart; the first was &#8220;Bad&#8221;, which spent a few weeks hovering around number 30 at the start of last year. \u00a0 I&#8217;ve always liked his production, and this is no exception, though I can take or leave the actual song. \u00a0AJ Tracey had a couple of mid-table hits last year, but this is his first time in the top 10; MoStack&#8217;s previous best was number 17, guesting on a Dave track in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m So Tired&#8221; by Lauv &amp; Troye Sivan<\/strong> climbs 9-8, and\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Boasty&#8221; by Wiley x Stefflon Don x Sean Paul featuring Idris Elba<\/strong> climbs 22-11. \u00a0<strong>&#8220;Talk&#8221; by Khalid<\/strong> continues to make excruciatingly slow progress, reaching number 12 a mere four weeks after it got to 13. \u00a0<strong>&#8220;Don&#8217;t Feel Like Crying&#8221; by Sigrid<\/strong> climbs 15-13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. \u00a0Marshmello featuring Chvrches &#8211; &#8220;Here With Me&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NRmSf9VqrUA\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Climbing 23-14. \u00a0It&#8217;s got a proper video now, and the other two from Chvrches even get to be in it! \u00a0Actually, this is listed on YouTube as &#8220;Alternative Music Video&#8221;, but as far as I can see it&#8217;s the\u00a0<em>only<\/em> one on YouTube, unless you count the lyric video. \u00a0I think they just mean that it&#8217;s an alternative edit of the vertical video made for Spotify&#8230; but heck, it&#8217;s still a video.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;So Am I&#8217; by Ava Max<\/strong> climbs 30-18&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>19. \u00a0Russ &amp; Tion Wayne &#8211; &#8220;Keisha &amp; Becky&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o1TJE5b2Lys\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Russ&#8217;s follow up to &#8220;Gun Lean&#8221;, which made number 9 earlier in the year. \u00a0It&#8217;s the third top 40 appearance this year (and indeed ever) for Tion Wayne, who also guested on NSG&#8217;s &#8220;Options&#8221; (which made the top 10) and Swarmz&#8217; &#8220;Bally&#8221; (which didn&#8217;t). \u00a0On this single, they are mainly fond of arses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>32. \u00a0Meduza featuring Goodboys &#8211; &#8220;Piece of Your Heart&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KWjV25q34Hw\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ooh, a debut hit! \u00a0Meduza are a production trio, and from the look of it they&#8217;d class themselves as progressive house. \u00a0No idea about Goodboys, really, but it&#8217;s a strong track, this. \u00a0Worth a play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>38. \u00a0George Ezra &#8211; &#8220;Pretty Shining People&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FjeJwWIBXNA\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The follow-up to &#8220;Hold My Girl&#8221;, which made the top 10. \u00a0George Ezra tracks tend to be slow-burn climbers, so a number 38 debut is fine &#8211; his number one &#8220;Shotgun&#8221; took thirteen weeks to reach the top. \u00a0In the video he&#8230; helps his record label get in touch with their inner children, I guess?<\/p>\n<p>Over on the album chart&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. \u00a0Michael Ball &#8211; &#8220;Coming Home To You&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/njnhFV4Yt-I\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is Michael Ball&#8217;s second number one album, the first being his self-titled debut way back in 1992. \u00a0He hasn&#8217;t even come particularly close since the nineties, but hey, it&#8217;s a declining market and it favours artists who appeal to older people that haven&#8217;t yet shifted to streaming. \u00a0[Edit: Well, he hasn&#8217;t come close as a <em>solo\u00a0<\/em>act. \u00a0He has had a couple of number one albums as a double act with Alfie Boe.]\u00a0 The album is something of a change of direction, with a tack towards country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. \u00a0The Carpenters with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra &#8211; &#8220;The Carpenters with the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eGrLUavvkIA\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This made number 8 just before Christmas, but it re-enters this week. \u00a0The Official Chart Company are attributing this to Richard Carpenter appearing on\u00a0<em>The One Show<\/em>, but that&#8217;s never been a programme that&#8217;s noticeably driven album sales in the past. \u00a0Perhaps it just says something about <em>The One Show<\/em> demographic. \u00a0For some reason, while there wasn&#8217;t a proper video for anything on the album when it was actually released, they made one for &#8220;Superstar&#8221; in January.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18. \u00a0Sleeper &#8211; &#8220;The Modern Age&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LSh37ZvMTiw\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yes, <em>that<\/em> Sleeper &#8211; they haven&#8217;t released a record in 22 years, but they re-formed for a nostalgia tour a couple of years back with the likes of Dodgy, Space and the Bluetones. \u00a0Sleeper were a second-tier Britpop act &#8211; their biggest hit singles only scraped the bottom end of the top 10 &#8211; and have the misfortune to remembered for the anonymity of the three men behind Louise Wener. \u00a0But\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rJEyKr7J0Wc&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I remember the actual music fondly<\/a>, and the single above is quite strong.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21. \u00a0RV &amp; Headie One &#8211; &#8220;Drillers and Trappers 2&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ByaAJGFlVbk\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s obligatory mixtape. \u00a0It&#8217;s the follow-up to a mixtape from 2017 which didn&#8217;t make the chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>26. \u00a0NAV &#8211; &#8220;Bad Habits&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o_v2r8rdGM8\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s on the Weeknd&#8217;s label, and you can see the family resemblance. \u00a0This is the follow-up to last year&#8217;s album &#8220;Reckless&#8221;, which reached number 24; he&#8217;s yet to place anything on the singles chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>27. \u00a0Jenny Lewis &#8211; &#8220;On The Line&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/I9PjniODmbU\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;. okay. \u00a0This is Jenny Lewis&#8217;s fourth solo album, and the first to chart. \u00a0She <em>did<\/em> previously have a number 34 album in 2007 as a member of Rilo Kiley, but it&#8217;s still kind of random to see her suddenly show up here. \u00a0This is good, though.<\/p>\n<p><strong>32. \u00a0M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce &#8211; &#8220;The Dirt &#8211; OST&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QfenIwtoQzk\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The soundtrack album to a poorly-received Netflix docudrama. \u00a0Still, if you&#8217;ve ever wanted to hear a collaboration between M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce and Machine Gun Kelly, we&#8217;ve got you covered. \u00a0(It&#8217;s&#8230; alright, actually.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>34. \u00a0Bonnie Tyler &#8211; &#8220;Between the Earth and the Stars&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_152gATW2i0\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Celebrating fifty years in the business, Bonnie Tyler has a new studio album in the chart &#8211; just &#8211; but considering that her last studio album to make the top 40 was 1986&#8217;s &#8220;Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire&#8221;, that&#8217;s quite a surprise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>36. \u00a0Mansun &#8211; &#8220;Six&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g-19nT3ULc4\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>21st anniversary reissue for their second album, which appropriately reached number 6 in autumn 1998. \u00a0Remember the hits like &#8220;Wide Open Space&#8221; and &#8220;Taxloss&#8221;? \u00a0Well, they were on the first album. \u00a0The biggest hit from <em>this<\/em> one was &#8220;Legacy&#8221;, which got to number 7. \u00a0But that&#8217;s not on YouTube, so here&#8217;s &#8220;Being A Girl&#8221; &#8211; the one where the verses sound like the Police.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. \u00a0Dean Lewis &#8211; &#8220;A Place We Knew&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Debut album. \u00a0We&#8217;ve had a single from this one &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=I0czvJ_jikg&amp;frags=pl%2Cwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Be Alright&#8221;<\/a> made number 11 last year. \u00a0And finally for this week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>38. \u00a0Lucy Rose &#8211; &#8220;No Words Left&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N9ShTxl7DpQ\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Lucy Rose is on her fourth album, and chart-wise, she peaked back in 2015 when &#8220;Work It Out&#8221;
