Jawsh 685 &amp; Jason Derulo &#8211; &#8220;Savage Love (Laxed &#8211; Siren Beat)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gUci-tsiU4I\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Climbing to number 1 in its third week on chart. Producer Jawsh 685 joins the list of pure one-hit-wonders (one number 1 single and nothing else). Most people who achieve that do manage to get off the list &#8211; other than Jawsh 685, the most recent name on the list is Bradley Cooper, thanks to his duet with Lady Gaga in 2018 &#8211; and since he&#8217;s not principally a singer, he probably <em>is<\/em> going to stay on the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more Read more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s Jason Derulo&#8217;s fifth number one, following &#8220;In My Head&#8221; (2010), &#8220;Don&#8217;t Wanna Go Home&#8221; (2011), &#8220;Talk Dirty&#8221; (2013) and &#8220;Want to Want Me&#8221; (2015) &#8211; so a five year gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s a bunch of minor climbers in the top 20: <strong>&#8220;Watermelon Sugar&#8221; by Harry Styles<\/strong> climbs 7-6; <strong>&#8220;Secrets&#8221; by Regard &amp; Raye<\/strong> climbs 10-7; <strong>&#8220;Party Girl&#8221; by Staysolidrocky<\/strong> climbs 16-13; <strong>&#8220;This City&#8221; by Sam Fischer<\/strong> climbs 18-16; and <strong>&#8220;Kings &amp; Queens&#8221; by Ava Max<\/strong> climbs 21-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>20. Blackpink &#8211; &#8220;How You Like That&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ioNng23DkIM\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">K-pop continues to edge into the mainstream, though I&#8217;m not sure this is one of Blackpink&#8217;s best. This isn&#8217;t technically their biggest UK hit &#8211; that would be their guest appearance on Lady Gaga&#8217;s &#8220;Sour Candy&#8221;, which only just got to number 17 &#8211; but it&#8217;s their biggest hit as lead artist by a mile. Their previous best was number 33 for &#8220;Kill This Love&#8221; last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One advantage for Blackpink at the moment is that when they appear on talk shows to promote their record, they still have to appear by video link, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yBZKk-cCv64\">they can do it from an actual studio<\/a> and perform normally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>27. Jubel featuring Neimy &#8211; &#8220;Dancing in the Moonlight&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rWnTZh3yxTY\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Swedish acts, all making their first appearance in the UK chart. And yes, it&#8217;s <em>that <\/em>song, best known in the UK from Toploader&#8217;s version (number 7 in 2000).  The original was by King Harvest, and it was their sole North American hit back in 1973; the band never had any chart success in Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>28. Bring Me The Horizon &#8211; &#8220;Parasite Eve&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/racmy7Y9P4M\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a little unexpected, even in a quiet period for new releases. Bring Me The Horizon consistently do well in the album charts, but their only previous singles hit was &#8220;Drown&#8221;, which reached number 17 in 2014. Most of their singles since then have landed in the 50s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>38. Becky Hill &amp; Sigala &#8211; &#8220;Heaven on my Mind&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FaGFLOA_9jk\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last time these two released a record together, it was credited to &#8220;Sigala &amp; Becky Hill&#8221;, so clearly the negotiations have been intense. That was &#8220;Wish You Well&#8221;, which reached number 8 last year; Sigala haven&#8217;t been heard from since, but Hill has had a couple of top 20 hits with Meduza and Shiftk3y since then. She&#8217;s become a consistent mid-table artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the album chart&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1 Haim &#8211; &#8220;Women in Music &#8211; Part 3&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vfZSgr_si4I\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, it&#8217;s their third album, and no, the others weren&#8217;t called that. It&#8217;s their second number 1 (the other one got to number 2). Here&#8217;s the rather good lockdown video for &#8220;I Know Alone&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Jessie Ware &#8211; &#8220;What&#8217;s Your Pleasure&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cLIESvLSDKA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of Jessie Ware&#8217;s albums have made the top 10, but this is her highest position to date. Again, we have a pretty blatant lockdown-era video above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>7. Khruangbin &#8211; &#8220;Mordechai&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lo4KMGiy--Y\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They&#8217;re a trio from Texas and this is their third album, but the first to chart in the UK. Khruangbin is Thai for &#8220;aeroplane&#8221;. The single is much more mellow than I&#8217;d have guessed, and really very pleasant. Lovely video, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>8. The Lathums &#8211; &#8220;The Memories we Make&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QRnDkv1Hka8\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indie band from Wigan, making their first album chart appearance. Technically this album isn&#8217;t on Spotify, presumably because it&#8217;s a compilation of the tracks from two earlier EPs which <em>are<\/em> &#8211; but I wonder if that&#8217;s had any impact on its streaming points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>29. Nadine Shah &#8211; &#8220;Kitchen Sink&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XX9bxRCVWnI\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harder to classify, this. Nadine Shah has been releasing albums for years, but this is the first time she&#8217;s reached the top 40. Worth a play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>32. Meekz &#8211; &#8220;Can&#8217;t Stop Won&#8217;t Stop&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dcG8c_KxeJ4\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And finally, this week&#8217;s rapper who somehow wound up on the album chart instead of the singles chart &#8211; it&#8217;s the only genre that seems to consistently produce artists in both camps. Meekz is from Manchester, and this is his first hit.
