We have a static top four, and nine of the ten songs were there last week too. So for a third week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pSY3i5XHHXo\"><strong>1. Dave &amp; Central Cee &#8211; &#8220;Sprinter&#8221;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; is number one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11. Leigh-Anne &#8211; &#8220;Don&#8217;t Say Love&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hNSJWpULrJA\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That would be Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix, whose surname has apparently been deemed unsuitable for solo status. The fact that she misses the top 10 is likely to cause a bit of concern, but Little Mix tracks have climbed from mid-table entries before, so the jury is still out. The track itself is&#8230; okay, I guess?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The first Little Mix member to release a solo single was the exiled Jesy Nelson, who reached number 4 in 2021 with &#8220;Boyz&#8221; and&#8230; then vanished off the face of the charts. She left her record label in 2022, and released another single earlier this year &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zIldn2GuTqk\">&#8220;Bad Thing&#8221;<\/a>, which got decent reviews, but bombed spectacularly. Admittedly, the decision to release a mid-pace ballad about domestic violence as a comeback record was, er, bold &#8211; and probably intended more to reposition her as a Serious Artist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. Peggy Gou &#8211; &#8220;(It Goes Like) Nanana&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ssKWFlclNFg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Debut hit. She&#8217;s a South Korean DJ, though she&#8217;s currently based in Germany. It&#8217;s a pretty good retro dance track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>28. Taylor Swift &#8211; &#8220;Cruel Summer&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ic8j13piAhQ\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is an album track from 2019&#8217;s &#8220;Lover&#8221; which has picked up some steam on TikTok. Swift has decided to run with it and promote it as a single. Well, why not? &#8220;Karma&#8221; is still on the charts, at number 33 this week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>31. Tom Grennan &#8211; &#8220;How Does It Feel&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ELw5Cs7LLZ8\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His third album\u00a0<strong>&#8220;What Ifs and Maybes&#8221;<\/strong> enters the album chart at number 1. It&#8217;s his second number 1, following 2021&#8217;s &#8220;Evering Road&#8221; (his debut got to number 5). \u00a0None of the singles from this one have got above number 27, and the album&#8217;s release finally gets this track into the top 40 a month after it came out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>37. Doja Cat &#8211; &#8220;Attention&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/agXQQDasq0U\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is the first single from her next album. She&#8217;s been making noises about swinging back away from pop to something more credible, and that&#8217;s clearly the message that this single is going for. Number 37 would be low for her, but she&#8217;s climbed from the lower reaches before.<\/p>\n<p>This week&#8217;s climbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Padam Padam&#8221; by Kylie Minogue<\/strong> climbs 9-8. She last got this high in 2011 when she guested on a Taio Cruz single.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Good Love&#8221; by Hannah Laing &amp; RoRo<\/strong> climbs 13-9.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;UK Rap&#8221; by Dave &amp; Central Cee<\/strong> climbs 14-13.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Little Things&#8221; by Jorja Smith<\/strong> climbs 20-15.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Satellite&#8221; by Harry Styles<\/strong> <em>finally\u00a0<\/em>gets momentum as a single, climbing 31-18 &#8211; although it&#8217;s still overshadowed by &#8220;As It Was&#8221; at number 5. And\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Late Night Talking&#8221;<\/strong>, which has been hanging around in the 30s for four weeks now, suddenly jumps to 22.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;0800 Heaven&#8221; by Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry &amp; Ella Henderson<\/strong> climbs 23-21.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Unhealthy&#8221; by Anne-Marie &amp; Shania Twain<\/strong> climbs 36-24. Twain hasn&#8217;t been this high since her last top 10 hit, 19 years ago.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Talibans&#8221; by Byron Messia<\/strong> climbs 37-34-33. I really wouldn&#8217;t have predicted this one sticking around.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Area Codes&#8221; by Kali<\/strong>, which had a week at number 39 a fortnight back, re-enters at 38.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are six records leaving the top 40:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Side Effects&#8221; by Becky Hill &amp; Lewis Thompson<\/strong>, which managed four weeks in the top 40 but couldn&#8217;t get past number 35.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;People&#8221; by Libianca<\/strong>, a number 2 hit that spent ten weeks in the top 10 alone, and entered the top 40 back in January.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Heaven&#8221; by Niall Horan<\/strong>, after re-entering at 40 last week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Wish You The Best&#8221; by Lewis Capaldi<\/strong>, which had a week at number 1 on its release and crashed due to the downweighting rule in its tenth week.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Chemical&#8221; by Post Malone<\/strong>, which got nine weeks on chart, entering at 11 and dawdling slowly down.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Dog Days Are Over&#8221; by Florence &amp; The Machine<\/strong>, which got six weeks as a back catalogue hit, peaking at 21.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Calm Down&#8221; by Rema<\/strong> is still the longest running hit, and since it&#8217;s at number 10, it&#8217;s likely to stay that way for some time to come.<\/p>\n<p>The album chart is absurdly busy.\u00a0<strong>&#8220;What Ifs &amp; Maybes&#8221; by Tom Grennan<\/strong> is number 1; we&#8217;ve covered that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Queens of the Stone Age &#8211; &#8220;In Times New Roman&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L2QUws-jZ7U\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Their last studio album, 2017&#8217;s &#8220;Villains&#8221;, reached number 1; the one before that, in 2013, got to number 2. They&#8217;re consistent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Pet Shop Boys &#8211; &#8220;Smash &#8211; The Singles 1985-2020&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/shNlK_FSmug\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Exactly what it sounds like. Well, kind of. The &#8220;1985&#8221; is there to cut off their two pre-fame singles &#8211; the original version of &#8220;West End Girls&#8221; and its follow-up &#8220;One More Chance&#8221;. Also missing are a 2020 vinyl-only release, &#8220;Burning the Heather&#8221;; the 1994 Comic Relief single &#8220;Absolutely Fabulous&#8221;, which was a hit but arguably doesn&#8217;t really belong on a career retrospective; and, oddly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1hk2x_0pEhI\">&#8220;How Can You Expect To Be Seriously&#8221;<\/a>, which was a released as a double A-side with &#8220;Where The Streets Have No Name&#8221; in 1991, and has a video, but seems to have been memory-holed because the duo don&#8217;t like it any more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Far From Saints &#8211; &#8220;Far From Saints&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SHK5-3Z6n0Y\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is a side project of Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics. The rest of the group are members of The Wind &amp; The Wave.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Texas &#8211; &#8220;The Very Best Of &#8211; 1989-2023&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NoKgj9YOdIo\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Again, self-explanatory. Texas still release albums fairly regularly and usually make the top 5.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Gunna &#8211; &#8220;A Gift &amp; A Curse&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f1DV0LnDPkY\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s below the position of his last two albums, but it&#8217;s still a third top ten album, and it&#8217;s a busy week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Ateez &#8211; &#8220;The World EP 2 &#8211; Outlaw&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U0G5OA6ZH5w\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>K-pop. It&#8217;s their 11th EP, but it seems to be the first time they&#8217;ve seriously tried to promote themselves abroad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. Ben Howard &#8211; &#8220;Is It?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iGm9L7clwII\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His fifth album and the first time he&#8217;s missed the top 10. Considering that his last album, 2021&#8217;s &#8220;Collections from the Whiteout&#8221;, was a number 1, this looks to have underperformed, even allowing for the fact that it&#8217;s a shift of style.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20. Asake &#8211; &#8220;Work of Art&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3JQA7W_dLUg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Nigerian Afrobeats. Last year&#8217;s album got to 22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>40. Little Simz &#8211; &#8220;No Thank You&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K7xzmkpwNoA\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Her previous album, in 2021, got to number 4 &#8211; so this is a massive decline.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not the most memorable of top 10s.
