Everything’s in mid storyline this week, and I still haven’t found time to read that second Wolverine Max TPB, so let’s do this while it’s fresh. It’s a quiet week on the release schedule, as we’re entering the phase where regular record promotion winds down for the Christmas break. Which leaves the number one slot wide open for a change.
39. Justin Bieber – “Change Me”
The penultimate “Music Mondays” track is another one that would not normally have been considered for singles release in a million years. Actually, looking back, this seems to be a weirdly uncommercial album for somebody like him. This is the lowest charting of the nine released to date, but the tenth and final song is getting a music video and some degree of regular promotion, so I expect it to do better.

If you haven’t heard our five-year anniversary podcast yet, with special guests Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester from “Wait, What?”, then it’s one post down – and check out their latest episode over at Savage Critic. Many thanks to both of them – I think it’s a really good episode.
And now… stuff!
39. Rudimental (featuring Emeli Sande) – “Free”
Charts – 10 November 2013
It’s a busy week, particularly if you count all the re-entries from Eminem singles that were disqualified from the chart under the instant gratification rules last week. (I won’t bother.) Meanwhile, the number 1 slot changes hands for the sixth straight week. Hmm.
39. Awolnation – “Sail”
Charts – 3 November 2013
If you were expecting a bunch of tracks from Lou Reed’s back catalogue, well, no. “Perfect Day” was at 45 and “Walk on the Wild Side” at 53, for those wondering. “Transformer” re-enters the album chart at 35, but otherwise it seems Lou Reed just isn’t the sort of artist whose death inspires downloads. Can’t imagine that’s something he’d be losing much sleep over.
37. M.A.D. – “Toyboy”
Charts – 27 October 2013
Charts – 20 October 2013

Some weeks, the Radio 1 chart show producers must look at the listing as it comes through, see an utterly predictable number 1, see an almost uninterrupted stretch of fallers from 40 through to 15, and sigh deeply. This is one such week, with a bunch of new entries clustered at the top (but no surprise at the very top), and literally nothing happening in the lower half of the chart except for one lone new entry.
And that new entry?
24. Ylvis – “The Fox”
