Charts – 27 June 2025
Right, for real this time.
1. Sabrina Carpenter – “Manchild”
At long last, the chart rules deem Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” to be far enough past its peak to boot it down the charts. The downweighting rule – “accelerated chart ratio”, if you prefer the official name – is a singularly blunt instrument, and “Ordinary” lands at this week’s number 9. It would otherwise still be number 1 by a healthy margin.
More by default than anything else, “Manchild” returns to number 1 for a second week, but it’s less than 10% ahead of the number 2 single and falling, so it may not be there long. That number 2 single is “Dior” by MK featuring Chrystal, which… nope, still hate it. It’s MK’s biggest hit, though – his previous peak was 7. We used to have to asterisk that with the fact that his real biggest hit was his remix of “Push the Feeling On” by the Nightcrawlers in 1994, but that peaked at 3.
4. Fred Again, Skepta & PlaqueBoyMax – “Victory Lap”
That’s a Fred again.. track? Really? I would not have guessed that. It’s his biggest hit since “Adore U” reached number 4 in 2023. Astonishingly, it’s only Skepta’s second top 10 hit – the other was a guest verse on Wiley’s “Can You Hear Me”, which reached number 3 in 2012.
PlaqueBoyMax is a streamer whose actual contribution to this track is somewhat obscure – he certainly doesn’t rap on it (yes, I checked the version on streaming services too). He does have some production credits, but Fred again.. has been teasing this track since 2023, apparently. The uncredited female vocal is another sample from a pre-fame Doechii track – this time 2022’s “Swamp Bitches”.
6. Sam Fender & Olivia Dean – “Rein Me In”
Another of Sam Fender’s singles adding guest verses to his album tracks, though it’s been a while since the last one. It’s Sam Fender’s fourth top ten hit. Olivia Dean finally seems to be getting some traction this year – having previously charted only with a Christmas track for Amazon Prime, she’s now had three hits this year, this being the highest.
33. Roxxi. & Jazzy – “High On Me”
Are we seeing an upswing in dance hits? It’s been a while. This is the debut hit for Rossi. – the punctuation mark is silent – who’s a DJ from London. Jazzy had three top 5 hits in 2022-24, including one entirely solo credit with “Giving Me”.
36. PinkPantheress – “Illegal”
This is the third single from her current album – the first one got to 35, the second stalled at 66. This one entered at 48 in May, dropped from there, and now suddenly vaults up from number 73, for no immediately obvious reason. The hook is from Underworld’s “Dark and Long”.
37. Sombr – “We Never Dated”
A third hit for Sombr, who currently has “Undressed” at 7 and “Back to Friends” at 11. This one is… also pretty good, actually. Strong strike rate so far.
39. Sammy Virji & Skepta – “Cops & Robbers”
Yes, another Skepta track. This one’s been hovering just outside the top 40 for three weeks. Virji is another DJ getting his first top 40 hit.
This week’s climbers:
- “Dior” by MK featuring Chrystal climbs 3-2.
- “No Broke Boys” by Disco Lines & Tinashe climbs 37-26.
- “Rock That Body” by the Black Eyes Peas climbs 35-11.
There are six new entries plus a re-entry for “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams at 38. The seven tracks leaving the top 40:
- “Suzanne” by Mark Ronson & Raye had a single week at 34.
- “Sparks” by Coldplay had a single week at 40.
- “Carry You Home” by Alex Warren peaked at 9 and has been around since January.
- “Killin’ It Girl” by J-Hope featuring Glorilla got a single week at 30.
- “Revolving Door” by Tate McRae peaked at 9 in March and lasted 17 weeks in the top 40.
- “The Contract” by Twenty One Pilots, which entered at 33 last week and dives straight out of the top 100.
- “Steve’s Lava Chicken” by Jack Black, which actually got ten weeks in the top 40, peaking at 9.
On the album chart:
1. Yungblud – “Idols”
His fourth album, his third consecutive number 1. So no surprises here. Yungblud albums tend to flare out very quickly – he’s a week one fanbase act.
2. Loyle Carner – “Hopefully”
Alt-rap, I guess? This is his highest position to date, but only marginally – the last two albums both reached 3. His previous album didn’t stick around beyond a week either, to be honest, but the one before had a bit more staying power.
3. Haim – “I Quit”
It’s been five years since their last album (pretty much exactly). Their previous albums all reached 1 or 2, but this is only marginally behind, on a busy week for new releases.
4. Benson Boone – “American Heart”
His second album. This one has “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else” and “Mystical Magical” on it. His previous album peaked at 16, but hung around for a long time.
7. Aitch – “4”
Fourth album, and he’s yet to miss the top 10. It doesn’t actually feature either of his top 40 hits from this year.
32. Malevolence – “Where Only the Truth is Spoken”
Just in case the band name and title weren’t a clear enough indication of what this sounds like, they’re on Nuclear Blast Records. It’s their fourth album but the first to make the top 100.
36. Lucy Spraggan – “Other Sides of the Moon”
The X Factor‘s token Proper Songwriter from 2012 continues to get her records into the album chart, though this is the first time she’s missed the top 30. The single above somehow has a guest appearance by Robbie Williams, although he evidently drew the line at doing the video.
