Housekeeping
Posted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 by Paul in Uncategorized
I’m tied up with work at the moment, so no annotations posts this week. I’ll do an X-Axis and a chart post at the weekend, and hopefully another Daredevil instalment.

Hey, just want to say thank you for this website.
Thanks for the hard work. I enjoy keeping up with the x-books through this site, even if I haven’t been a regular x-men reader for many years. Mortgages will do that.
I like to hijack housekeeping threads. I don’t see the harm?
Topic: What’s everybody watching on TV these days?
I’ve been rewatching Star Trek Enterprise and I’ve recently discovered Slow Horses. Pluribus and It: Welcome to Derry are current shows with new episodes I’ve been making an appointment to see every week.
“TV?” What is that?
I just finished Jessica Jones, and trying to decide which series to watch next with the end goal of being ready for Jessica Jones return in the not yet filmed Defenders series that is supposed to return like Daredevil has. First Daredevil series, Luke Cage, or Defenders? What is skippable ane what will be relevant?
We literally don’t deserve you, Paul. Thanks for all the weeks of normal coverage, and looking forward to more Daredevil villains soon.
Re: TV — The second season of English Teacher was just as funny as the first. I definitely recommend it if you like fast-paced workplace comedy w/gay.
The Defenders saga in order of their original release and chronology:
Daredevil (S1)
Jessica Jones (S1)
Daredevil (S2)
Luke Cage (S1)
Iron Fist (S1)
Defenders (one season special event)
Punisher (S1)
Jessica Jones (S2)
Luke Cage (S2)
Iron Fist (S2)
Daredevil (S3)
Punisher (S2)
Jessica Jones (S3)
Daredevil and Iron Fist do the most heavy lifting in setting up the Defenders mini, but supporting characters from all four shows appear in the Defenders. You’ll want to watch Defenders no matter which show you’re a fan of.
Punisher spins out of Daredevil, but doesn’t appear in Defenders. Punisher basically becomes its own thing. It’s surprisingly pretty good. Much better than the right wing gun porn I had feared it would be in my mind.
The only Netflix Marvel TV series I think I finished watching was Jessica Jones, and maybe most of Daredevil S1. I found JJ a lot more compelling, but it seemed like such a standalone story that I am amazed to be reminded that she starred in two more seasons (Three if the Defenders counts, I guess).
The only other one I tried with was Luke Cage, which I really wanted to like, but I did not make it very far. I liked the idea of this world of interconnected shows, but the idea of watching that many seasons of TV seems exhausting, and reviews at the time were not very good …
In hindsight, is any of the rest of it interesting enough that you would recommend revisiting?
All one man’s opinion and it’s been a while since I’ve revisited these…
The three seasons of Daredevil are good. There’s a reason its the one that made a comeback.
The first season of Jessica Jones might be the best season of all of Netflix shows, but season 2 and 3 are a huge drop in quality and pretty skippable. Luke Cage is mostly good minus a dip in the back half of the first season. Iron Fist is the weakest, as it never really came together. It has its moments, but mostly planned for cultural appropriation and weak fight scenes. Punisher has two strong seasons that can mostly be watched on their own. Defenders is the big crossover and either your invested by that point or you’re not.
My thanks to Paul as well!
@Aro: Netflix’s DAREDEVIL S3 is quite good. Intense. I rarely ever rewatch a show, but if I revisited the Marvel Netflix series, I would watch that one or JJ S1.
As for right now, I’m onto Netflix’s DEATH BY LIGHTNING, and I’ll probably watch HBO’s TASK after that. I really like miniseries that tell complete stories with beginnings, middles, and ends; I don’t have to worry about a show getting canceled early or overstaying its welcome because the suits want to milk it, etc.
Even so, I’ll definitely be checking out Vince Gilligan’s new show PLURIBUS when it has a few more episodes in the can, and I’m looking forward to THE BOYS S5 next year, which I hope sticks the landing.
For comedy I’ve been making my way through NEW GIRL. I think it’s funny as hell.
I’d put in a vote for Star Trek: Prodigy if you can track it down.
And for the Netflix Marvel series, I second Jessica Jones, but I’d also give a shout-out for season 3. It’s not as intense as season one, but I think it’s more interesting than it’s given credit for.
The BOYS on Amazon Prime Video has been my favorite superhero TV show. It seems to have a good sized budget for TV superhero action. Even it’s spinoff GenV has kept me entertained
I’d recommend the 1950s UK TV Sherlock Holmes show (oddly filmed in Paris). Only half hour each episode, fairly straightforward, mostly original stories, and the occasional before they were famous guest star like Michael Gouch and, of all people, Natalie Schaefer from Gilligans Island.(
Forgot to say those are all on You Tube and there are only 39 of them.
I just want to say it’s poor that in a 3 month crossover Unbreakable X-Men couldn’t meet its release schedule. And…watch Blue Lights, I guess (there’s not much on – I’m watching darts).
Thank you Paul!
