House to Astonish Presents: The Lightning Round Episode 19

Posted on Monday, March 11, 2024 by Al in Podcast

It’s a brave new world for the Thunderbolts, as they try to readjust to civilian life… or, in the case of some, to adjust to being bossed around by Captain America as part of the Redeemers. We say hello to new regular penciler Patrick Zircher, as well as to the continuity transplants from the Heroes Reborn universe, as they look at issues 51 and 52 of Thunderbolts, as well as the Thunderbolts: Life Sentences oneshot. Join us as we explore the questions of who is the 19th best telepath in the Marvel Universe, where can you find the most racist electrical goods store in America, and how badly a 1990s comics character can lacerate himself with his own costume.

The podcast is here, or available via the embedded player below. Let us know what you think in the comments, on Bluesky, via email or on our Facebook fan page. And do you know what John Cena could have done with at the Oscars last night? That’s right. A swell t-shirt. Or at least, I’m guessing he could have, I didn’t actually see him.

  1. alastair says:

The UK radio shack was Tandy and when that went away the next closest was Maplin’s.

  2. Alex Hill says:

Tandy! I knew there was one and I was trying to think of it but couldn’t get there. My mind ended up at Beatties somehow, the old model shop which is the first place I saw a proper video game section in.

  3. Daibhid C says:

There was apparently a Future Foundation story that established Rikki Barnes went bodysurfing across the multiverse, and so kind of was Becky Barnes?

I think if you were hanging upside down via telekinesis, or mastery of magnetism, or poorly defined “flight powers” then yes, the blood would rush to your head. If you’re hanging upside down because you have convinced gravity itself to work that way, I feel like maybe it wouldn’t.

  4. Alastair says:

if that is that the FF story explaining what happened to the none Richards kids after secret wars. I think Ricky ended dating Julie power in that one.

  5. Mark Coale says:

Our first computer was a Tandy TRS 80 from Radio Shack in the early 80s. You saved files on a cassette recorder.

  6. Mark coale says:

Carving a planet in your image was seen as a big deal when Darkseid did it in the 1980s LSH. But not for Graviton?

  7. Joe I says:

I feel like Graviton’s thing is that no matter how powerful or destructive he actually is, his overt neediness and desire to be recognized taint the accomplishment and ensure nobody gives him the respect he desperately craves. Kind of following the tradition of Molecule Man.

(I almost called him Miracle Man, yow)
