House to Astonish Episode 89
It’s been a really, really long time since our last episode, but we’re back, with an incredibly echoey, extra-long and tasty episode. We’re talking about the sad deaths of Joe Kubert and Sergio Toppi, the cancellation of the Dandy, Defenders and Avengers Academy, the changes to Marvel titles like Journey Into Mystery and Red She-Hulk in the wake of Marvel NOW!, Superman and Wonder Woman’s hookup, the cancellation of the Premiere Classic line, the newly-named Marvel movie sequels, Ed Brubaker leaving Winter Soldier and a blast through the November solicitations. We’ve also got reviews of Hawkeye, Archer & Armstrong and Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom, and the Official Handbook of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe walks with a zombie. All this plus Dennis the Menace’s amazing modern hat, an anthropomorphic Scottish indie band, the Crossover Bell, driving an issue of Grifter into a wall, the octopus that makes Marvel’s editorial decisions, countercultural cows on mopeds, John Merrick as Iron Man and Swastikabucks.

Housekeeping
Just a quick note to say that a variety of home and work demands mean that Paul and I haven’t been able to synch up schedules for this weekend (and believe me, we’ve tried) so we’re going to have to put the podcast back a week – next weekend’s pretty packed out for both of us too, but we’re hoping to record next Friday evening, so we’ll see you then (all things being equal).

Housekeeping: House to Astonish on Stitcher
In advance of tomorrow’s episode, we’ve got a quick bit of info about another way in which you can now get hold of the show.
If you listen to a variety of different podcasts then you might have heard of Stitcher – it’s a site (and a free app for iOS and Android) that lets you put together what are essentially custom radio stations, “stitching” together podcasts and radio from their available sources. They’ve got a bunch of podcasts that I normally listen to, such as the Bugle, Answer Me This and Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, as well as some other comics podcasts like Comic Geek Speak and Around Comics. They’ve also now got House to Astonish, so if you’re looking for another way to listen to House to Astonish (and to be honest, who wouldn’t want another way to listen to House to Astonish?) then check it out – their site is here or you can get the app from the iTunes or Android app stores.
